The position requires developing materials, coordinating schedules, and managing trainers while traveling to deliver trainings across sites.

Qualifications

  • Pass a Washington State background check.
  • First Aid/CPR certification within 120 days of employment.
  • Need CPI Blue Card.
  • Must be 21 years old with some education.
  • Certified Instructor of New Employee Orientation and Safety Training.
  • Certified Long-Term Care Worker Instructor – Home Care Aide/Residential Core Training.
  • Certified CPR/First Aid/BBP Instructor.
  • Peer Coach Instructor.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and/or prepare curriculum, classroom handouts, instructional materials, aids and manuals.
  • Create training materials and training videos as needed.
  • Create an annual training schedule for each department and share via Google Drive.
  • Conduct New Hire Orientation and Safety Training.
  • Maintain instructor status and direct structured learning courses.
  • Attend supervisor meetings to determine additional training needs.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through surveys and observations.
  • Train and supervise instructors (peer coaching).
  • Assist employees in improving existing skills and ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Maintain Washington Training Tracker and communicate with Directors/Supervisors on Training Compliance.
  • Attend provider meetings when training info is on the agenda.

Summary:

Will perform all training, ensuring The SAILS Washington employees meetrequired orientation, training and certification within specified timeframes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversight and Management of the Residential Services Department:

  • Will develop and/or prepare curriculum, classroom handouts, instructional materials, aids and manuals.
  • Create training materials as needed for specific issues and create training videos.
  • Will create an annual training schedule for each department and make it available in Google Drive.
  • Will conduct New Hire Orientation and Safety Training.
  • Will maintain instructor status and direct structured learning courses (Home Care Aide Training, Residential Core Training, CPR, First Aid, HIV/BBP, Right Response and Continuing Education, CPI).
  • Will attend supervisor meetings to ascertain additional training needs.
  • Will evaluate training effectiveness by observing and conducting surveys.
  • Will train and supervise instructors (peer coaching).
  • Will assist employees in improving or enhancing existing skills.
  • Will complete all required applications and documents ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and agreements.
  • Will maintain training requirements and certifications for all employees.
  • Overseeing and maintaining the Washington Training Tracker
  • Overseeing and communicating to Directors and Supervisors in regards to Training Compliance
  • Will keep up to date with Policies and Procedures and create trainings for staff with updated changes as needed
  • Will prepare training documents and submit the following:
    • Employee for their personal records
    • Accounting Department for payroll and billing purposes
    • Administrative Assistant for employee file compliance
  • Will attend Provider meetings when training information is part of the agenda.
  • Will adjust the training program as requirements are updated, modified or changed.
  • Will stay on top of new trends and tools in employment development.
  • Will work within the Training Program operation budget.
  • Will work with DDCS/DOH to ensure curriculum/trainers are approved.
  • Will work with new accreditations and certifications to ensure the curriculum is approved.
  • Annually train the Leadership team with updated leadership training
  • Stay on top of In The Know or any other training system to keep up to date on CE’s and updated training expectations
  • Must be willing to travel to complete training in other areas.
Travel:

Travel between offices, programs, and meetings averages 80%. Personal vehicle use is required; mileage is reimbursed. Out-of-state travel is typically not necessary.

Required education and experience:
  • Certified Medical Assistant License and 1-year field experience (or)
  • Licensed Practical Nurse and 1-year field experience
  • Two years specialized training emphasizing Social Services, at least three years’ experience working within a business, social services, or educational setting.
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • 2 years’ experience working with Clients with Disabilities
  • 3 years Supervisory experience
Licensing Requirements:
  • Must pass a Washington State background check
  • First Aid/CPR Certified (within 120 days of employment, training can be provided)
  • Blood Borne Pathogen (within 120 days of employment, training can be provided)
  • Need to obtain CPI Blue Card
  • Must be 21 years of age with some education.
  • Certified Instructor of New Employee Orientation and Safety Training
  • Certified Long-Term Care Worker Instructor – Home Care Aide
  • Certified Long-Term Care Worker Instructor – Residential Core Training

Ongoing eligibility qualifications:
  • Complete and pass the background check screening upon hire and every two years thereafter, or as requested.
  • Maintain active NAR, CPR/First Aid, Nurse Delegation and other required certifications.
  • Complete a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education annually.
