Job summary

ADP, Inc. is seeking an Instructor to train new and incumbent employees in welding, fabrication, material handling, CNC operation, and workplace safety. You will develop classroom and hands-on programs to build skills and safety awareness across multiple trades.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years in manufacturing, fabrication, welding, machining, painting, or related industrial environment.
  • AWS CWE certification preferred; must obtain within one year of hire.
  • Forklift Trainer certification preferred.
  • Overhead Crane Operator and/or Trainer certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver classroom and hands-on training programs for new and incumbent employees.
  • Provide instruction in welding, fitting, fabrication, painting, material handling, CNC/machine operation, and workplace safety.
  • Adapt training methods to accommodate varying skill levels, learning styles, and operational needs.

Job description

The Instructor must be capable of training both new and incumbent employees in the safe, effective, and skillful application of manufacturing, fabrication, material handling, and workplace safety practices. The Instructor will develop and deliver classroom and hands-on training programs in, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Welding, Fitting and Fabrication Practices
  • Material Handling and Equipment Operation
  • CNC/Machine Operation
  • Workplace Safety and Compliance

The Instructor is responsible for ensuring employees develop the knowledge, technical skills, quality standards, and safety awareness required to perform their jobs efficiently and safely while supporting workforce development and continuous improvement initiatives across all operational areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Training and Instruction
  • Develop and deliver classroom and hands-on training programs for new and incumbent employees.
  • Provide instruction in Welding, Fitting, Fabrication, Painting, Material Handling, CNC/Machine Operation, and Workplace Safety.
  • Adapt training methods to accommodate varying skill levels, learning styles, and operational needs.
  • Conduct demonstrations, practical exercises, skills assessments, qualification testing, and competency evaluations.
Employee Development and Assessment
  • Evaluate employee skill levels and training needs to identify development opportunities.
  • Conduct skills assessments, qualification testing, and competency evaluations.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and constructive feedback to support employee growth and performance.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of cross-training initiatives to enhance workforce flexibility.
Training Program Management
  • Develop and maintain lesson plans, training materials, presentations, work instructions, and competency assessments.
  • Maintain accurate training records, certifications, qualification documentation, and training matrices.
  • Monitor employee progress and training effectiveness to ensure workforce readiness and compliance.
  • Identify training gaps and recommend improvements to programs, processes, and instructional methods.
Safety and Compliance
  • Promote a culture of safety by ensuring all training activities align with OSHA regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Train employees on safe equipment operation, hazard recognition, personal protective equipment (PPE), and workplace safety procedures.
  • Reinforce quality standards, manufacturing best practices, and safe work behaviors.
  • Identify, communicate, and assist in resolving safety concerns and training-related compliance issues.
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
  • Partner with People Operations, Production, Quality, and Engineering to identify workforce needs.
  • Support onboarding and workforce initiatives.
  • Serve as a technical resource for employees and supervisors regarding training, skill development, and safety practices.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance employee performance, productivity, quality, and safety across all operational areas.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Associate degree in Welding Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Training, Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, welding, machining, painting, material handling, or a related industrial environment.
    • AWS Certified Welding Educator (CWE) certification preferred; must have the ability to obtain certification within one year of hire.
    • Forklift Trainer certification preferred.
    • Overhead Crane Operator and/or Trainer certification preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Heavy industrial worksite environment
  • Exposure to outdoor elements, extreme heat and cold, dust, chemicals, and loud noise
  • Standing for extended periods; lifting, bending, crouching, climbing, and working in confined spaces
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Safety-sensitive position; subject to pre-employment and reasonable-suspicion drug testing
  • Overtime and flexible scheduling required
