Job summary

Platteville-Gilcrest Fire Protection District seeks a Training Captain to develop, deliver, and evaluate district training programs and manage facilities and equipment. The role includes supervising personnel, maintaining records, and enforcing district policies within authority.

Responsibilities include driving and operating district apparatus, providing EMS within EMT protocols, and directing firefighting, search and rescue, and inspections.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Five (5) years of emergency services experience, including at least three (3) years as a company officer or higher.
• Valid state driver’s license and safe driving record.
• American Heart Association CPR certification.
• Knowledge of ICS-100, 200, 700, and 800.
• State of Colorado Firefighter II certification.
• State of Colorado Hazardous Materials Operations certification.
• State of Colorado Fire Instructor I certification.
• State of Colorado Fire Officer I certification.
• Colorado EMT certification.
• S-130/S-190 wildland certification.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate the District’s training program.
• Maintain knowledge of rules, policies, and procedures affecting training.
• Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs meeting state and national criteria.
• Supervise and manage District training facilities and equipment.
• Interact with partner agencies and participate in training officer organizations.
• Respond to emergencies and support command as needed.
• Oversee safety and ensure compliance with standards.
