Hilmar Cheese Company, a leading dairy producer, seeks an experienced Training Specialist to support and execute manufacturing training activities on site, reporting to the Plant Manager. You will lead New Hire Orientation, coordinate training with departments and SMEs, mentor Plant Trainers, and develop classroom materials to certify employees to required standards.

Responsabilidades

• Aligns training strategies and resources with the Operational Capabilities Manager with regular progress reports.
• Escalates critical training, competency, or compliance issues and proposes corrective actions.
• Leads New Hire Orientation and manufacturing-related training for production, operations, and support staff.
• Collaborates with Management, OJTs, Plant Trainers, SMEs, and vendors to develop and execute training plans.
• Mentors Plant Trainers and develops materials to ensure effective training and competency assessments.
• Develops classroom materials and delivers instruction to ensure employees meet competency standards.
• Responsible for annual recertification, state license exam training, and renewals as needed.
• Manages the site LMS and maintains training records in personnel files.
• Collects and analyzes training data to drive continuous improvement in the program.
• Manages the OJT program, trainer selection, development, and audit of training outcomes.

A Typical Day

Supports and executes manufacturing and technical training activities for site operations employees under the direction of the Plant Manager, ensuring workforce competency, operational readiness, and compliance within a manufacturing environment. Leads the daily coordination, delivery, and enhancement of manufacturing training programs, providing ongoing feedback, progress updates, and recommendations to support operational goals and workforce development initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

• Aligns training strategies, priorities, and resource needs with the Operational Capabilities Manager, providing regular updates on progress, risks, and key performance indicators for all training initiatives.
• Escalates critical training, competency, or compliance issues to the Operational Capabilities Manager and proposes corrective action plans to ensure safe and reliable operations.
• Leads, coordinates, and executes New Hire Orientation (NHO) sessions and manufacturing-related technical training for production, operations, and support employees.
• Partner with and build relationships with Management, OJTs, Plant Trainers, Subject Matter Experts from other departments, and/or outside vendor services to support Department Management with manufacturing training plan development, plan execution, required resources, tools and programs to bring department employees to necessary levels of competency.
• Leads the ongoing development of Plant Trainers responsible for manufacturing and operations training by providing regular mentoring, coaching, and feedback to build their capability to design effective training, deliver high-quality instruction, and accurately assess employee skill levels.
• Develops classroom material and instructs manufacturing employees on workmanship standards, process procedures, and operations to ensure that the employees are certified or qualified to an acceptable level of competency.
• Responsible for annual recertification involving classroom training and competency demonstrations as well as for conducting training for state license exams, keeping records of, and for submitting state license renewals as appropriate per department.
• Manages the site LMS for all manufacturing and operations employees, ensuring that all physical and electronic training records are accurately maintained in personnel files and uploaded to the LMS in a timely and complete manner.
• Collects training data from multiple sources (e.g., assessments, observations, LMS reports, and survey feedback). Partners with the Operational Capabilities Manager to analyze data for continuous improvement opportunities within the training program.
• Collaborates with operations leadership to manage the OJT program, including trainer selection, trainer development, train-the-trainer certifications, coaching, and auditing training outcomes to ensure effectiveness and consistency.

What You Will Need

• High School Diploma and 5 years related experience, OR Associate's degree plus 3 years related experience, OR Bachelor's plus 1-year related experience.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to organize and prioritize to achieve results and deadlines

• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with a commitment to completion of projects on a timely basis
• An upbeat, positive, outgoing and personable demeanor with the ability to interact and relate well with coworkers
• Proficient using MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

What Will Put You Ahead

• Bachelor's degree plus 2 year related experience
• Experience facilitating technical, operational, or manufacturing training for frontline employees.
• Experience working with LMS systems

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The role has periods of time when the work environment is sedentary and conducted in an office environment balanced with frequent occasions that require prolonged walking or standing, lifting/ carrying/handling moderate weight objects on a regular basis. Is required to wear PPE and have a regular presence in manufacturing and warehouse environments in both temperature controlled and uncontrolled locations.
