Job summary

Kodiak Gas Services LLC is seeking a Power Technical Training Specialist to design, develop, and implement technical training programs for the Power business. The role serves as a SME and partners with Operations leadership to close skill gaps and improve fleet reliability.

The successful candidate will deliver classroom, field, and hands-on instruction, maintain curricula, assessments, and learning standards, and collaborate with internal SMEs to ensure quality content and progressive career

Qualifications

• 7+ years in power generation operations, maintenance, commissioning, or reliability roles.
• 3+ years developing and delivering technical training programs.
• Experience developing technical curriculum, assessments, qualification programs, or learning pathways.
• Experience working with large industrial power generation equipment.
• Experience with adult learning principles and technical instruction.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and implementation of Kodiak's Power training program.
• Conduct needs assessments to identify gaps in technical knowledge and skills.
• Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, EHS, Fleet, and Reliability to prioritize learning objectives.
• Work with instructional designers to create courses, materials, assessments, and hands-on exercises.

Position Summary

The Power Technical Training Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and continuously improving Kodiak's technical training programs for the power generation business. This position serves as a subject matter expert and strategic partner to Operations leadership, identifying skill gaps and creating comprehensive training solutions that support technician development, operational excellence, safety, and fleet reliability. Unlike a traditional trainer role, this position will build and maintain the technical training curriculum, qualification pathways, assessments, and learning standards for the Power business while also delivering classroom, field, and hands-on instruction. The successful candidate will possess extensive technical expertise in power generation equipment and demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into effective learning experiences.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Power Training Program Development Lead the design, development, and implementation of Kodiak's technical training program for the Power business.
• Conduct training needs assessments to identify technical knowledge and skill gaps throughout the organization.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, EHS, Fleet, and Reliability leaders to prioritize training needs and learning objectives.
• Work with an instructional designer to develop new training courses, learning materials, job aids, assessments, and practical exercises.
• Provide guidance for creating progressive power technician learning pathways, competency models, qualification standards, and certification requirements that support career advancement in Power Operations.
• Ensure training content remains current with evolving equipment technologies, operating practices, and regulatory requirements.
• Technical Subject Matter Expertise Serve as a technical resource regarding power generation equipment and associated systems.
• Maintain deep knowledge of generators, engines, turbines, switchgear, paralleling controls, electrical systems, power distribution, emissions systems, automation, and related technologies.
• Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technology, and best practices within the power generation industry.
• Work closely with equipment manufacturers and internal subject matter experts to develop and update technical content.
• Training Delivery Deliver instructor-led, hands-on, virtual, and field-based technical training programs.
• Facilitate classroom instruction, practical labs, equipment demonstrations, and field exercises.
• Evaluate participant performance through written, practical, and competency-based assessments.
• Provide coaching and development recommendations to operational leaders and employees.
• Work with Training & Development Specialist to maintain training records, assign eLearning, track training participation, completion, and other metrics with the Kodiak LMS.
• Analyze training effectiveness and recommend improvements based on operational results and participant feedback.
• Develop KPI reporting for Operations leadership related to technician development and workforce readiness.
• Collaboration & Leadership Build influential relationships across Operations and serve as a trusted advisor regarding workforce capability development.
• Partner with Training leadership, Instructional Design resources, and subject matter experts to ensure training quality and consistency.
• Support strategic workforce development initiatives across the Power business.
• May provide guidance and mentorship to trainers, subject matter experts, and field leaders involved in technical training activities.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Education, or related field preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in power generation operations, maintenance, commissioning, or reliability roles.
• 3+ years of experience developing and delivering technical training programs preferred.
• Experience developing technical curriculum, assessments, qualification programs, or structured learning pathways strongly preferred.
• Experience working with large industrial power generation equipment required.
• Experience with adult learning principles and technical instruction preferred.

Skills & Abilities

• Extensive knowledge of power generation systems and equipment.
• Strong understanding of diesel and natural gas generators, turbines, electrical systems, switchgear, controls, and power distribution.
• Ability to convert complex technical concepts into effective learning materials.
• Strong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to build programs from concept through implementation.
• Experience developing training materials in multiple formats, including classroom, digital, and hands-on learning.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Experience with Learning Management Systems (Workday Learning preferred).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to influence leaders and employees across all levels of the organization.

Physical Demands

• Travel up to 75% to Kodiak Operations locations and customer sites.
• Ability to work in office, classroom, shop, and field environments.
• Ability to stand for extended periods during training delivery.
• Ability to safely access operational equipment and field locations.
• Must be able to work occasional irregular hours as required.
