Job summary

A non-profit organization for guide dogs seeks a Trainee Guide Dog Trainer responsible for training dogs through a 1.5-year program. Candidates will need relevant education and skills in communication and teamwork. While this role provides hands-on experience training guide dogs, there is no guarantee of employment post-program. The position offers a salary of $24.00 per hour and various benefits including health insurance. Candidates must be comfortable working with large dogs and able to maintain a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• Physically capable of lifting and handling large, active dogs.
• Capable of accurately assessing situations and making quick, sound judgements independently.
• Self‑motivated and driven by a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Lead the training and development of a string of eight dogs.
• Conduct foundation training for assigned dogs.
• Support the emotional and physical well-being of all assigned dogs.

Education

College degree in Animal Behavior, Psychology, or Education/Teaching
