Job summary
A non-profit organization for guide dogs seeks a Trainee Guide Dog Trainer responsible for training dogs through a 1.5-year program. Candidates will need relevant education and skills in communication and teamwork. While this role provides hands-on experience training guide dogs, there is no guarantee of employment post-program. The position offers a salary of $24.00 per hour and various benefits including health insurance. Candidates must be comfortable working with large dogs and able to maintain a flexible schedule.
Qualifications
Physically capable of lifting and handling large, active dogs.
Capable of accurately assessing situations and making quick, sound judgements independently.
Self‑motivated and driven by a strong work ethic.
Responsibilities
Lead the training and development of a string of eight dogs.
Conduct foundation training for assigned dogs.
Support the emotional and physical well-being of all assigned dogs.
