Job summary

Mendocino Railway in Fort Bragg, CA is hiring qualified Conductor or Engineer to operate trains safely and professionally. The role requires FRA Engineer and/or Conductor certifications, the ability to follow FRA regulations, and strong teamwork to ensure a secure passenger and freight service.

Both full-time and part-time positions are available, including evenings, weekends and holidays. You will communicate clearly by radio, monitor signals and train location, and deliver a welcoming onboard

Qualifications

• Must currently hold FRA Locomotive Engineer and/or FRA Conductor certifications in good standing.
• Ability to receive, understand, communicate and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work as part of a train crew and maintain safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Operate locomotives and trains safely in accordance with FRA regulations and company rules.
• Maintain awareness of train location, signals, and potential hazards.
• Communicate with senior crew and dispatchers to ensure safe movement.
• Perform pre-departure safety checks and inspections as required.
• Provide friendly, professional service to passengers and guests.
