Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. in Harrisburg, PA seeks a Trailer Technician Trainee under close supervision to gain foundational knowledge of tools, equipment, shop safety, and company rules.

You will learn to work on air brake systems and FHWA inspections, with potential to work outdoors and across multiple shifts including nights and weekends. Shadow a senior technician, perform repairs to specifications, follow SRT and warranty guidelines, and communicate professionally with customers.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Able to supply your own basic tools, or purchase through toolbox program.
• Willingness to work outdoors in the elements.
• Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed.
• Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and interpret ideas through various mediums.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds).
• Ability to wear protective gear/PPE.
• Not eligible for employment-based sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Shadow a more senior team member to learn repairs to company and manufacturer specifications, complete work orders, and train to meet standard repair times and warranty guidelines.
• Understand and follow all shop safety procedures.
• Maintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers.
• Train to become efficient in routine preventive maintenance, replacement of parts, basic repair of air brake systems, and FHWA inspections.

Key Responsibilities:

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age
• AND Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences:
• Able to supply your own basic tools, or purchase through our toolbox purchase program
• Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
• Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed
• Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively
• Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
• Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)

Compensation

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
