Job summary

Marten Transport in Tampa, FL seeks a skilled Maintenance Technician to perform in-house repairs on the fleet. The role focuses on diagnosing and repairing equipment, rebuilding components, and completing repair orders with accurate labor and parts charges.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in tractor maintenance and a high school diploma or equivalent. The position requires lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for long hours, and working varied shifts in a climate-controlled facility.

Qualifications

• Must possess mechanical skills and aptitude.
• Two+ years experience in tractor maintenance or equivalent training.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair equipment accurately and efficiently.
• Rebuild components on equipment as needed and maintain proficiency.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections on fleet vehicles.
• Complete Repair Orders, recording labor and parts to the correct unit.
• Attend company training classes and apply learned skills.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Take on additional duties and special projects as assigned.
• Return unused parts to the parts room.

Purpose

To furnish quality major and minor in-house repairs to the fleet in a timely and efficient manner while complying with Marten Transport, Ltd. policy and procedure.

Responsibilities

• Maintain proficiency in the diagnosis and repair of all equipment.
• Maintain proficiency in rebuilding components on equipment.
• Effectively and efficiently perform preventive maintenance inspections.
• Complete all Repair Orders in a timely manner ensuring all labor and parts are charged to the appropriate unit.
• Attend all company-training classes, then retain and demonstrate what was instructed.
• Responsible for the cleanliness of the work area.
• Performs additional duties and special projects as needed.
• Return all unused parts to the parts room.
• Other duties as assigned.

Abilities/Skills Required

Must possess mechanical skills and aptitude for the position. Must be able to exhibit skills and knowledge

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and be able to stand for long hours. Must be able to work various shifts and days. Must be able to work in all types of climates including extreme hot and cold.

Education/Training Required

High School Education with one year post high school training preferred or two plus years’ experience in tractor maintenance.
