Job summary

NButexas is seeking an experienced Trailer Mechanic to join our growing fleet maintenance team in Joliet, IL. You will diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical components, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure DOT safety standards are met.

The role focuses on trailers including dry vans, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and chassis. A valid driver's license is required; CDL is a plus but not required. Competitive benefits and ongoing training are provided.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance inspections on trailers.

• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues efficiently.
• Document repairs and complete work orders accurately.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Minimize trailer downtime with the maintenance team.

What You'll Do

• Perform preventive maintenance inspections on commercial trailers.


• Diagnose and repair air brake systems, suspension components, lighting, electrical systems, doors, floors, roofs, and trailer bodies.


• Complete DOT inspections and ensure equipment meets all federal and company safety standards.


• Repair or replace damaged trailer components, including wheel-end assemblies, hubs, brakes, tires, and landing gear.


• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues efficiently.


• Document repairs and complete work orders accurately.


• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.


• Work with the maintenance team to minimize trailer downtime.

What We're Looking For

• Experience performing maintenance and repairs on commercial trailers.


• Knowledge of air brake systems and DOT inspection requirements.


• Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform quality repairs.


• Experience with welding or fabrication is a plus but not required.


• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.


• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.


• Valid driver's license required. CDL is a plus but not required.
