Job summary

XPO Logistics, Inc. seeks a Technician Specialist in Carlisle, PA to join our maintenance team. You’ll assist with trailer inspections, brake replacements, and routine repairs to keep equipment in safe, shipping-ready condition.

You’ll work alongside experienced shop personnel and log job times and parts on repair orders. The role provides hands-on training toward FMCSA qualifications, a uniform program, tool allowance, health and life insurance from day one, 13 days of PTO in year one, 9

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required and basic mechanical skills.
• Basic computer skills for documenting maintenance, service, and repair.
• Able to perform safety inspections and prepare safety documentation.
• Desire to become a Technician Level 1 and progress.
• Willing to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends.
• High school diploma or equivalent; prior mechanical training or experience; own basic hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist with trailer inspections and brake replacements to meet FMCSA requirements.
• Complete component replacements and perform maintenance, service, and repairs on trailers.
• Work with shop technicians on minor trailer repairs.
• Enter job times and parts on repair orders to track activities.
• Operate specialized tooling and vehicles and keep the work area safe and clean.
• Report any damage or unsafe conditions to management; interact with operations/sh shop management.

What you’ll need to succeed as a Technician Specialist at XPO

• A valid driver’s license

Preferred qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent work-related or military experience
• Prior mechanical training or experience such as automotive or skilled trades
• Own a set of basic hand tools
• Have a desire to become a Technician Level 1
  • Disclaimer: Employee will have to have a combination of one (1) year verifiable previous experience with heavy-duty maintenance and time in this role to be eligible for an in-line promotion

• Required to obtain the training, skills, and certifications necessary to qualify for promotion to Trailer Technician within one (1) to two (2) years, including becoming FMCSA-qualified to perform vehicle and brake inspections

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Assist with trailer inspections and brake replacement to gain the experience necessary to meet requirements of FMCSA 396.19 and 396.25
• Complete component replacements
• Perform maintenance, service, and repairs on trailer doors and SafeStack Systems to units parked at the dock
• Work alongside technicians in the shop to complete minor trailer repairs
• Enter job times and parts on repair orders to track activities
• Operate specialized tooling and vehicles
• Ensure the work area is always clean, safe, and well-maintained by reporting any damage or negligence to management immediately
• Interact with operations management and shop management

Technician Specialists are required to:

• Lift objects of various shapes, sizes, and weights frequently up to 50 lbs. and occasionally more than 75 lbs.
• Safely walk and stand for extended periods on various surfaces that may be uneven or slippery, including working outdoors in inclement weather
