Warren Transport Inc. in Waterloo, Iowa is seeking an experienced Trailer Mechanic to ensure the safety and reliability of our trailers. Responsibilities include inspecting brake systems and performing repairs while adhering to industry safety standards.
The ideal candidate has a two-year AAS degree in a diesel program or equivalent experience and must demonstrate the ability to operate relevant shop equipment. A focus on safety and strong communication skills are essential for this role.
Under direct supervision of the Shop Manager, the Trailer Mechanic is responsible for inspection, repair and preventative maintenance of the various types of Warren owned trailers by using Warren and industry standard methods and criteria to ensure the trailer is safe to be on the road. Functions of this position include: inspecting, diagnosing, replacing and repairing brake systems ABS, electrical components, multi-axle alignments, hydraulic systems, welding/fabrication of steel and aluminum and related equipment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee works outside and is exposed to all weather elements, including: extreme heat, wind, rain, snow, and freezing temperatures. The employee is frequently required to stand or walk for long periods. The employee is frequently required to bend, stoop, climb, push/pull up to 50 lbs., and twist. The employee is frequently required to move parts or supplies and can lift up to 100 lbs. The employee must frequently use fingers, handle or touch objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
