Job summary

Resource Transport LLC is seeking a skilled Trailer Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair RT Equipment including Maxxim and Timpte trailers. You will perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs to ensure safe, reliable operations.

The role requires reading manuals, welding, and using Fleetio CMMS; candidates must have 2+ years in trailer maintenance, be able to read English, and work in a fast-paced oilfield environment in Midland.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in trailer maintenance or related mechanical field.
• Minimum 5 years diagnosing and repairing commercial trailers.
• Working knowledge of DOT inspection requirements and trailer standards.
• Experience repairing air brake systems, suspension, wheel-end and electrical systems.
• Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
• Own basic mechanic tools and ability to read technical manuals.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on bottom drop trailers.
• Troubleshoot and repair air brake systems, suspension components, wheel-end assemblies, electrical systems, lighting, and pneumatic systems.
• Inspect, repair, and replace bottom drop gate components and cylinders.
• Perform welding, fabrication, and structural repairs on trailers and related components.
• Conduct preventive maintenance to identify issues before downtime.
• Diagnose and repair ABS and trailer electrical circuits per DOT.
• Maintain maintenance records in CMMS (Fleetio) including labor and parts.
• Ensure repairs comply with DOT regulations and safety standards.
• Assist with inventory management and parts stocking.
• Collaborate with maintenance team to improve reliability.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment.

Trailer Mechanic

The Trailer Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing Company‑owned bottom drop trailers ("RT Equipment"), including Maxxim and Timpte trailers, to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This position performs diagnostics, inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on trailer components including pneumatic systems, suspension systems, brakes, electrical systems, hydraulic components, landing gear, and structural assemblies. The Trailer Mechanic also maintains accurate maintenance records in Fleetio and supports a culture of safety, teamwork, and accountability within the maintenance department.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on Maxxim and Timpte bottom drop trailers.
• Troubleshoot and repair air brake systems, suspension components, wheel‑end assemblies, electrical systems, lighting systems, and pneumatic trailer systems.
• Inspect, repair, and replace bottom drop gate components, cylinders, actuators, seals, and related operating mechanisms.
• Perform welding, fabrication, and structural repairs on trailers, hoppers, frames, cross members, and other trailer components as needed.
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and services to identify and address potential issues before they result in equipment downtime.
• Diagnose and repair ABS systems and trailer electrical circuits to ensure DOT compliance and operational safety.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including labor, parts usage, and completed work orders using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities comply with Company policies, DOT regulations, and applicable safety standards.
• Assist with inventory management by identifying parts needs and maintaining adequate stock levels to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with other maintenance personnel to improve equipment reliability and share technical knowledge.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or trade school training preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in trailer maintenance, heavy‑duty truck and trailer repair, or related mechanical field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience diagnosing and repairing commercial trailers, preferably bottom drop, hopper, or bulk haul trailers.
• Working knowledge of DOT inspection requirements and trailer maintenance standards.
• Experience repairing and maintaining air brake systems, suspension systems, wheel‑end components, and trailer electrical systems.
• Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
• Experience with Fleetio or other computerized maintenance management systems preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to safety.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair procedures.
• Able to provide own basic mechanic tools.
• Be able to read, write, and speak English.

Physical Requirements

• Able to lift, carry, push, and pull up 50 lbs and occasionally more with assistance of medical devices.
• Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb for extended periods during the workday.
• Able to work underneath, around, and inside heavy equipment in small spaces.
• Able to use hands and fingers for gripping, handling tools, operating diagnostic equipment, and performing precise mechanical repairs.
• Able to frequently reach above shoulder level and below the waist.
• Able to safely operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, jacks, hoists, and other shop equipment.
• Able to climb ladders and mount/dismount heavy equipment safely.
• Able to work in varying environmental conditions including heat, cold, dust, grease, noise, vibration, and exposure to chemicals or fumes.
• Able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, steel‑toed boots, hearing protection, and respirators when required.
• Able to visually inspect equipment, read gauges and technical manuals, and distinguish colors related to wiring and diagnostics.
