Cheeseman Transport is seeking an experienced Trailer Mechanic for its Lewisburg, OH shop on the 3rd shift. The role requires diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty trailers with limited supervision, focusing on brakes, electrical systems, welding, and metal fabrication to keep our fleet safe and on the road.

You’ll perform preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and document parts used and repairs.

Experienced Trailer Mechanic? We Need Someone Who Can Work Independently.

Cheeseman Transport is looking for an experienced Trailer Mechanic to join our Lewisburg team on 3rd shift.

This is an independent technician position. We're looking for someone who knows heavy-duty trailers, can diagnose problems, determine the appropriate repair, and complete the work safely and correctly with limited supervision.

If you're the mechanic who can look at a trailer, figure out what's wrong, make the repair, and move on to the next job—we want to talk to you.

We're looking for strong experience with heavy-duty trailers, brakes, electrical systems, welding, and metal fabrication. Truck and diesel engine experience is a plus.

Your Schedule

3rd Shift: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM 2nd Shift: 3:00PM - 11:30PM

This position requires someone who is comfortable working independently during the overnight shift and making sound decisions about equipment repairs and maintenance.

Your Pay

$25.00–$34.00 per hour based on experience

What You'll Do

• Perform preventive maintenance on heavy-duty trailers
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems
• Troubleshoot trailer electrical and ABS systems
• Repair and maintain trailer braking systems and components
• Diagnose and repair air systems, suspension, and running gear
• Perform welding and metal fabrication as needed
• Perform DOT inspections
• Determine the appropriate repair based on your diagnosis
• Complete repairs according to company standards and applicable regulations
• Accurately document work performed and parts used
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Keep equipment safe, reliable, and ready for the road

What We're Looking For

This position requires an experienced technician who can work independently.

• Previous experience repairing heavy-duty trailers required
• Strong experience with trailer brakes and electrical systems
• Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
• Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine the appropriate repair
• Welding and metal fabrication experience
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision
• Ability to prioritize repairs and manage your time during the shift
• Commitment to safety and quality workmanship
• DOT inspection experience preferred
• Truck and diesel engine experience is a plus
• Willingness to continue developing your skills through OEM training
