Job summary

Alaska West Express in Fairbanks, Alaska seeks a Trailer Mechanic to repair and maintain commercial trucks, machinery, and equipment. You will work with engines, pneumatic tools, and suspension systems while following DOT regulations and company safety policies.

The role requires 1–3 years of diesel/trailer/heavy equipment experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to follow procedures. Multiple shifts with differential pay are available along with solid benefits and career growth

  • 1-3 years of proven work experience as diesel, trailer and heavy equipment mechanic
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision in work

Responsibilities

  • Services and inspects commercial motor vehicles and trailers.
  • Interprets deficiencies as identified on driver's post trip inspection forms.
  • Performs repairs to air ride and spring type suspension systems.
  • Diagnoses and repairs electrical/lighting systems.
  • Performs wheel end inspections and services.
  • Performs annual Commercial Motor Vehicle inspections per FMCSR 396.19.
  • Performs brake inspections per FMCSR 396.25.
  • Performs basic computer functions by completing job work orders using Transman Fleet Equipment Maintenance System, recording materials used, type of work accomplished, and maintenance system codes.
  • Operate company vehicles and forklifts in a safe, professional manner.

Alaska West is currently seeking a Trailer Mechanic based out of Fairbanks, Alaska.

The Mechanic will repair and maintain commercial trucks, machinery, and mechanical equipment including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines. What Makes You Successful In This Position

Multiple Shifts Available
  • Swing Shift: $3 additional shift differential
  • Graveyard Shift: $4 additional shift differential
