Job summary

Saia is seeking a Trailer Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair tractors-trailers used for transporting goods. This role requires hands-on work in a fast-paced maintenance shop and a commitment to safety and quality.

You will inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical systems, perform periodic maintenance, and document all service activities. Strong toolbox skills and reliability are essential to keep our fleet in top condition.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Must provide and maintain personal maintenance tools.
• Read, write, communicate and comprehend English to perform the job duties.

Responsibilities

• Services, inspects, and repairs tractor-trailers.
• Diagnoses failures and makes repairs on mechanical, electrical, and various systems on a trailer.
• Uses hydraulic jacks and hoists to gain access to the underside of trailers.
• Conducts full inspections of trailers to identify issues.
• Tests trailers after repairs to ensure they are operating without issues.
• Maintains a detailed record of all service and maintenance activities.
• Repairs defective parts such as brakes, tires, axles, wiring, and hydraulic systems.
