Job summary

Dynamic Engineering is seeking a Traffic Intern to work alongside a Design Engineer and under a Project Manager to produce technical deliverables for traffic and transportation projects. The role offers hands-on experience, coaching, and exposure to multiple disciplines within the engineering field.

You'll gain hands-on experience, contribute to field data collection, and develop plans using AutoCAD and other software while pursuing a Civil Engineering degree.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in traffic engineering, planning and highway design
• 0-2 years’ experience in traffic/transportation engineering
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) preferred
• Technical knowledge in traffic engineering with proven reporting, design, specifications, and computations

Responsibilities

• Establish and monitor adherence to project schedule and budget
• Provide coordination and follow-up to ensure quality and client confidence
• Assist in development of traffic control device design plans (signal, signing, pavement marking, lighting, ITS)
• Create clear technical reports and high-quality drawings (AutoCAD)
• Perform field duties including data collection and verifications for traffic control installations
• Engage in other duties as assigned
• Pursue Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in relevant topics
• Collaborate with team members and independently when required

The Traffic Intern works alongside the Design Engineer and under the direction of a Project Manager and is responsible for day-to-day project work producing technical deliverables for traffic and transportation engineering projects.

• Establish and monitor adherence to project schedule and budget
• Provide all necessary coordination and follow-up on the work to ensure quality standards are met, efficiency levels are maintained and client satisfaction, respect and confidence are assured
• Assist in the development of traffic control device design plans, including traffic signal, signing, pavement marking, lighting and ITS plans
• Create clear, concise technical reports and high quality drawings, primarily using AutoCAD
• Perform field duties outside of the office in support of projects, including traffic data collection and field verifications of existing and proposed traffic control device installations
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Emphasis in Traffic Engineering, Planning, and Highway Design courses are a plus
• 0-2 years’ experience in in traffic/transportation engineering
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) preferred
• Technical knowledge in traffic engineering with proven experience in preparing technical reports, designs, specifications, and computations
• Traffic Signal design and signal timing experience
• Working knowledge of relevant software packages including, Synchro, HCS, Microstation, Corsim, VISSIM is a plus
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Software including Word, Excel, Outlook and Project
• Familiar with AutoCAD
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Independent and critical thinking abilities
• Self-starter who can work independently and with team members
