Job description

What We're Looking For

This position will report to the Georgia Department of Transportation at the District 5 office in Jesup, GA through direct on‑site work. It supports engineering projects, document development, and design, and performs other related tasks. The engineer works on multiple small projects with few complex features, acting as a technical lead or handling portions of larger conventional projects.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in project scope and budget development, as well as assisting in project design.
  • Support PMs by providing technical leadership on conventional projects.
  • Design experiments, interpret data, and develop conclusions on complex data.
  • Write and review engineering specifications, documents, drawings, etc., to produce various deliverables.
  • Design a component or process on complex projects or design complete projects, systems, or components on conventional projects.
  • Responsible for completing a subset of project documents.
  • Participate in client meetings, as appropriate.
  • Conduct on‑site visits to monitor progress of projects.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Education & Experience Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited program; minimum of 6 or more years of engineering experience.
  • Registered PE.
  • Apply practical knowledge gained through progressive experience to resolve issues.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other essential equipment for field and office work.
  • Keep informed of new methods and developments affecting the organization.
