Job description

Traffic Modeling Systems Engineer

Locations: Scottsdale, AZ / Huntsville, AL / Chantilly, VA

Pay: $87.87 - $92.87 per hour (estimated)

U.S. Citizenship required by Federal Law.

This position can be worked from Huntsville, AL; Scottsdale, AZ; Grand Forks, ND; or Chantilly, VA. The role supports the U.S. Space Force Space Development Agency (SDA) Ground, Management and Integration (GMI) program responsible for developing and deploying state‑of‑the‑art ground operational systems for the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA); including integration, testing, and maintenance of the ground entry points, operations centers, enterprise test, and checkout capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Systems engineering that includes decomposing requirements into modeling of the traffic data flow from a satellite constellation to the ground network.
• Pre‑planned or ad‑hoc scheduling and satellite services to track missiles.
• Analysis of missile tracking data to validate the traffic model.
• Identify opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required by Federal Law.
• Active Department of Defense SECRET security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret with Polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or STEM and 8+ years of experience, or Master’s degree and 6+ years of experience.
• Prefer recent modeling of communication data, preferably using satellite constellations and ground networks.
• Prefer recent Satellite‑to‑Ground RF communication protocol experience, end‑to‑end packet prioritization and routing, or traffic modeling experience.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies and their application in system design and deployment.
• Experience with image processing (collection, handling, storing, and analysis).
