Job summary

Dewberry's Raleigh, NC office seeks a Traffic Engineering Group Lead/Senior Project Manager to grow our NC/GA transportation practice. You’ll lead the NC/GA traffic team, partner with Technical Leads, and work on complex projects.

The role blends project leadership, client relations, and marketing for pursuits. Requires PE license, 15+ years in traffic engineering, and proven ability to manage schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer license is required; ability to obtain NC PE within 3 months.
• 15+ years of experience in traffic and transportation engineering.
• Experience with Traffic Design (contract plans, specs, and estimate preparation for signals).
• Experience leading a team of engineers.
• Experience managing and delivering projects to meet schedules and budgets.
• Ability to develop scope of work documents and prepare man-hour estimates.
• Ability to provide quality control oversight for traffic engineering tasks.
• Active in one or more traffic/transportation engineering professional organizations (e.g., ITE, ITS America, WTS, ASHE).

• Monitor workload, schedule and budget adherence in the Traffic group.
• Perform QC reviews of design plans and documents.

• Manage task assignments and workloads and monitor project schedule and budget adherence in the Traffic Engineering group.
• Perform QC reviews of design plans and documents prepared by staff and other consultants.

Required Skills & Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer license is required. Ability to get NC PE within three (3) months.
• 15+ years of experience in traffic and transportation engineering, preferably with state and municipal agencies.
• Experience with Traffic Design (contract plans, specifications and estimate preparation for signals,
• Experience leading a team of engineers.
• Experience managing and delivering projects and tasks to meet set schedules and budgets.
• Ability to develop scope of work documents and prepare man-hour estimates.
• Ability to provide quality control oversight for aspects of traffic engineering tasks within candidate’s expertise.
• Ability to maintain good employee relations and project communication with both internal and external clients.
• Active in one or more traffic/transportation engineering related professional organizations (e.g., ITE, ITS America, WTS, ASHE)

Preferred, but Not Required Qualifications:

• PTOE certification.
• NCDOT experience.
