STV, Inc. invites undergraduates and graduates to join as a Traffic Engineering Intern in Houston, TX. The hybrid role requires at least three days in the office weekly and supports learning through hands-on transportation projects.

The internship favors candidates able to commit for at least three months and potentially transition to full-time. Compensation is competitive and aligns with market ranges for interns in the region.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering at an ABET-accredited university.
• Eligibility for internship with potential for full-time after graduation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with traffic engineering studies, planning, and design projects.
• Perform traffic simulations using VISSIM, Synchro/SimTraffic, and HCS.
• Assist with traffic impact studies, technical reports, and analysis documentation.
• Support safety analyses for vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists.
• Assist with signal operations, coordination, and MPT analyses.
• Develop design concepts and roadway signing with MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Coordinate with DOTs and local agencies; support data collection and proposals.
• Participate in project meetings and communications.

Job description

STV is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Traffic Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship offers an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate-level candidates to work alongside our experienced team, learn, and contribute to meaningful transportation projects. This hybrid position requires at least 3 days a week in the office. Preference will be given to those who can participate in the internship for at least 3 months and can work full-time.

Responsibilities

• Assist with traffic engineering studies, transportation planning, and traffic design projects.
• Conduct traffic simulation and operational analyses using software such as VISSIM, Synchro/SimTraffic, and HCS.
• Assist with the preparation and review of traffic impact studies, technical reports, and analysis documentation.
• Support transportation safety analyses involving vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists.
• Assist with traffic signal operations, signal coordination and timing, and pedestrian and bicycle facility analysis.
• Develop design concepts and assist with roadway signing, pavement markings, and maintenance of traffic (MPT) plans using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
• Support multidisciplinary project teams by providing traffic engineering input for environmental studies, roadway design, and Design Approval Documents.
• Coordinate with project team members and assist with communication with state Departments of Transportation (DOTs) and local agencies.
• Assist with data collection, analysis, and the preparation of technical proposals and business development materials.
• Participate in public information meetings and other project-related activities.
• Perform other tasks as assigned to support project goals and team objectives.

Required Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field at an ABET-accredited university or NCEES equivalent.

Compensation Range:

$47,959.00 - $54,498.00
