Job summary

Stantec is seeking a qualified Civil Engineer in New York City to lead transportation planning projects that enhance community infrastructure. The role includes managing traffic analyses, ensuring project quality, and engaging with stakeholders during presentations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • PE license (preferably in NY, NJ, or CT); PTOE and/or RSP certifications are a plus.
  • Strong understanding of transportation planning and traffic engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with NEPA guidelines and regional standards (NY, NJ, CT).
  • Experience with VISSIM, ArcGIS, or Adobe Illustrator is a bonus.

Your Opportunity
  • Lead transportation planning studies, traffic impact analyses, and safety assessments
  • Contribute to Environmental Impact Assessments and Planning and Environmental Linkages studies
  • Design and oversee traffic data collection and analysis
  • Collaborate with roadway and structural engineers on iterative design processes
  • Ensure quality and consistency through QA/QC reviews
  • Manage project budgets and client communications
  • Present technical concepts at public meetings and support stakeholder engagement
  • Coordinate modeling efforts and integrate results into planning recommendations
  • Prepare technical reports, memoranda, and presentations
  • Support business development through proposal writing and interviews
About You
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • PE license (preferably in NY, NJ, or CT); PTOE and/or RSP certifications are a plus
  • Strong understanding of transportation planning and traffic engineering principles
  • Familiarity with NEPA guidelines and regional standards (NY, NJ, CT)
  • Proficiency in Synchro, HCS, and standard business software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with VISSIM, ArcGIS, or Adobe Illustrator is a bonus
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings for diverse audiences
  • Proven leadership and ability to manage interdisciplinary teams
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Pay Range
  • Locations in NYC & CA (Bay Area) & NJ (RP) – $114,500.00 – $166,100.00 annually
Pay Transparency

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary

Regular full‑time and part‑time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans; a wellness program; health saving accounts; flexible spending accounts; 401(k) plan; employee stock purchase program; life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance; short‑term/long‑term disability plans; emergency travel benefits; tuition reimbursement; professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. They will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law). Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law. The benefits information listed above may not apply to union positions because benefits for such positions are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreements.
