Job summary

Kimley-Horn of DC is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 3+ years of experience to join their Transportation/Traffic team in Washington, DC. This is not a remote position and offers exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interactions.

You will perform traffic engineering and project management for a wide variety of transportation planning, transit, and ITS projects, while mentoring others and contributing to business development.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of traffic engineering experience; includes preparing/reviewing traffic studies, parking studies, and site access/circulation studies.
  • ABET-accredited Civil Engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters)
  • Engineer-In-Training or Engineering Intern certification, or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Experience using Synchro, VISSIM, or other traffic analysis software
  • Strong written and verbal communication; clear technical writing
  • Detail-oriented with ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Perform traffic engineering and project management tasks for transportation planning, transit, traffic engineering, safety and ITS projects for diverse clients
  • Foster growth in personal practice while contributing to the transportation practice
  • Assist with managing projects to be profitable
  • Engage hands-on in project delivery and transition work to qualified staff
  • Act as a positive leader and mentor
  • Contribute to marketing and business development and pursue leads and clients
  • Receive training and mentorship across plan production, project financials, and client interactions
