  • Experience with DOT/local agency projects preferred.
  • Proficiency with SYNCHRO, HCS, SIDRA, VISTRO.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Project Manager, Project Lead, or Task Lead for traffic and safety projects.
  • Prepare traffic impact studies, signal warrants, intersection design, safety studies, and bicycle planning.
  • Prepare traffic signal design plans for intersections, sequencing, markings, signing, lighting, and traffic control plans.
  • Provide technical assistance and QA on traffic studies and designs.
  • Support local and national practice areas with traffic engineering expertise.
  • Supervise and mentor younger engineers.

Stanley Consultants is seeking a Traffic Engineer for our Traffic Engineering, Safety and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) practices in our Denver, CO office. The successful candidate will enjoy: developing technical solutions, fostering close client and staff relationships; providing creative approaches to project development; and maintaining a personal dedication to serving client needs and mentoring younger engineers.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Serve, as required, as the Project Manager, Project Lead, or Task Lead in the development of traffic and safety projects.
  • Prepare traffic impact studies, traffic signal warrant studies, intersection design studies, safety studies, bicycle planning, and technical report writing.
  • Prepare traffic signal design plans for new and modified intersections, construction sequencing, pavement marking plans, signing plans, lighting design and traffic control plans.
  • Provide technical assistance and quality control oversight on traffic engineering studies and design projects managed by other project managers and task leads.
  • Provide traffic engineering support to local and national practice areas.
  • Supervise and mentor younger engineers.
  • Represent Stanley Consultants at technical meetings with agency staff, clients, and contractors.
Required Qualifications:
  • Requires a minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering; Master of Science in Civil Engineering is a plus.
  • Requires at least 4+ years of relevant experience in traffic engineering, transportation planning, and/or Intelligent Transportation Systems.
  • Requires a Colorado Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one within six months of the hire date.
  • Familiarity with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and the AASHTO Green Book.
  • Direct experience with DOT, local county, municipal, and/or developer driven transportation and traffic project preferred.
  • Proficiency with SYNCHRO, HCS, SIDRA, VISTRO and other traffic capacity and analysis software.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to complete diverse assignments accurately and efficiently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) or Road Safety Professional 1 (RSP1) certification is a plus.
  • Membership in ITE or other professional organizations aligned with traffic engineering.

$94,100 - $120,875 a year
