Job summary

KCI Technologies, Inc. is seeking a transportation/traffic engineer with 2+ years of relevant experience to work on public and private sector traffic and highway projects.

Typical projects include feasibility studies and preliminary and final design of construction projects. Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant traffic/transportation engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET-Accredited Program.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD, or Revit.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare highway and intersection improvement plans including computing vertical and horizontal geometrics.
  • Prepare traffic signal, pavement marking, signing, lighting, and maintenance of traffic plans.
  • Perform traffic data collection and other relevant field assessments.
  • Perform traffic analyses.
  • Prepare traffic and safety studies.
  • Prepare quantity and cost estimates.
  • Prepare written reports.
  • Participation in virtual and onsite presentations and meetings with internal and external clients.

Duties, Responsibilities & Other

This is a position for a transportation/traffic engineer with 2 or more years of relevant experience to work on public and private sector traffic and highway engineering projects. Typical projects include feasibility studies and preliminary and final design of construction projects. Duties may include the following:

  • Prepare highway and intersection improvement plans including computing vertical and horizontal geometrics
  • Prepare traffic signal, pavement marking, signing, lighting, and maintenance of traffic plans
  • Perform traffic data collection and other relevant field assessments
  • Perform traffic analyses
  • Prepare traffic and safety studies
  • Prepare quantity and cost estimates
  • Prepare written reports
  • Participation in virtual and onsite presentations and meetings with internal and external clients

The most qualified candidate will possess the following skills, experience and attributes:

  • Familiarity with standard references such as the AASHTO Green Book, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, the Highway Safety Manual and the Highway Capacity Manual
  • Familiarity with MSHA, DelDOT, VDOT, DDOT and/or Maryland County/City design standards and guidelines
  • Computer skills including training in CADD (MICROSTATION, OPEN ROADS, GEOPAK), HCS, SYNCHRO/SIM-TRAFFIC, Vistro, VISSIM, SIDRA, VISUAL, AGi32, Microsoft WORD and Microsoft EXCEL
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-Accredited Program
  • Proficiency in required design software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, or Revit.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Good communication and technical writing skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required:

  • Ability to maintain required certifications

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Preferred:

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
