Directional Traffic LLC’s mission is to be the leader in technology and safety for all temporary worksites on the road in the states of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. We are currently seeking hard-working, dependable, safety-oriented, team players to join our growing company.
Position Summary: The Flagger assists with the set up and tear down of the traffic pattern in addition to directing traffic through the work zone in a safe and efficient manner.
Reports To: Operations Manager/ Traffic Control Manager
The Traffic Controller works with construction teams to ensure that automobiles and pedestrians do not interfere with, or pose a danger to, laborers and their projects. Candidates must become certified in basic traffic safety techniques by attending a training class provided by the company. The Traffic Controller must create a safe work zone that ensures traffic does not cause a threat to the workers. This involves setting up cones and barriers that show traffic where to drive, as well as holding up signs that tell traffic to either stop or to proceed slowly. Traffic Controllers must constantly be aware of both the construction and traffic activity taking place around them. Compliance with all safety regulations is mandatory.
The Traffic Controller’s principal activities are performing traffic control and flagging duties at assigned job sites, including setting up, maintaining, and removing temporary work zones. Driving or traveling from the employee’s home to the job site (or, if applicable, assigned meeting location) and from the job site (or, if applicable, assigned meeting location) to the employee’s home, whether in a personal or company vehicle, is not a principal activity of this position and constitutes non-compensable commuting time under the Fair Labor Standards Act and applicable state law.
