Become a Traffic Control Supervisor Seattle

Traffic control supervisors (TCS's) in Western, WA, play an essential role in keeping drivers and pedestrians safe on the roadways.

TCS’s are responsible for overseeing a team of traffic controllers on a construction site or other work zone, following safety protocols, and handling traffic flow efficiently. They ensure all traffic control plans are implemented safely and effectively and that all workers and the public are protected. TCS’s work closely with flaggers, the project manager, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop traffic control plans that meet all regulatory requirements and protect workers and the public.

At Preferred Traffic Control, we provide a paid 3-day training program that equips our supervisors with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed on the job. Our TCS’s drive company vehicles to and from job sites and are provided with a gas card.

Primary TCS Job Duties
  1. Directing and controlling the movement of vehicles and pedestrians in and around work zones and construction sites
  2. Installing and maintaining traffic control devices such as traffic signals, signs, cones, barriers, and pavement markings
  3. Communicating with law enforcement, emergency services, and other personnel to coordinate traffic flow and ensure public safety
  4. Conducting site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential traffic hazards and implement appropriate mitigation measures
  5. Training other traffic control personnel and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
  6. Preparing reports, logs, and records related to traffic control activities and equipment maintenance
  7. Responding to and resolving customer complaints and concerns related to traffic congestion and safety issues
  8. Tackling problems as they occur and calling the Superintendent for support if unable to work out an issue.
  9. Making sure safety regulations and rules are observed in all processes.
  10. Reporting any security issues, accidents or safety violations to the Safety Manager
  11. Assigning work duties and schedules for traffic control personnel.
  12. Respond promptly to emergencies and traffic incidents, coordinating with law enforcement, EMS, and other stakeholders as necessary.
  13. Conducting regular site inspections and maintaining records of work completed.
