Job summary

AWP Safety in Kingsport, TN is seeking Protectors to join a field team at job sites. No experience or degree is required; we provide training and ongoing support to build a career in traffic safety.

You will set up cones, signs, and barricades, guide traffic with a stop/slow paddle, and work outdoors in all weather. A drug test is required, and some shifts may include nights or weekends.

Qualifications

• Valid driver\'s license required.
• Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors for long periods.
• Able to lift 40–50 pounds.
• Willingness to work in traffic and changing weather conditions.
• Flexible schedule; punctual attendance for every shift.
• Must pass pre-hire screening including a drug test (safety sensitive).
• Stay alert around moving traffic and follow safety rules at all times.
• Treat coworkers, clients, and the public with respect.

Responsibilities

• Set up cones, signs, and barricades and break down equipment.
• Guide traffic using a stop/slow paddle and monitor job site activity.
• Follow all safety rules taught in training.
• Communicate with crew and supervisor.
• Help keep vehicles and equipment clean and safe.
• Work outside year-round in all weather.
• Shifts may include nights, weekends, or emergency work.
• Stand or walk 8–12 hours per shift.
• Bring own steel-toed boots; company provides safety gear.

As a Protector, you work with a team at job sites. No experience or degree is needed. Safety comes first—always. We train you. We support you. We help you build a career.

Your Daily Work Includes

• Setting up cones, signs, and barricades and taking traffic control equipment down
• Using a stop/slow paddle to guide traffic, watching traffic and job site activity
• Following all safety rules taught in training
• Communicating with your crew and supervisor
• Helping keep vehicles and equipment clean and safe
• Working outside all year, in all weather
• Shifts may change based on job needs: Some nights, weekends, or emergency work may be required
• You may stand or walk 8 to 12 hours per shift
• We give you a hard hat, safety goggles, a safety vest, safety whistle, walkie talkie, and cold/hot weather gear: you bring your own steel toe safety boots that go above the ankle.

Additional Information

Pay

• Pay: $16.25–$17.00 per hour
• Overtime available
• Pay increases in your first year
