BCforward – TradingHub Trade Surveillance Engineer (Remote)
BCforward is seeking a highly motivated Engineering professional to join our remote Trade Surveillance team. This Contract position is 8+ months with an anticipated start ASAP.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain robust ETL pipelines to ingest trading and market data into the TradingHub platform.
- Configure and integrate the TradingHub platform, ensuring seamless data flow and optimal performance of surveillance models and custom controls.
- Apply deep capital markets knowledge to map and transform financial instruments across equities, fixed income, FX, and derivatives.
- Implement a strategic data quality framework to validate and monitor the completeness and accuracy of trading data, reducing false positives in surveillance alerts.
- Collaborate with technology and business stakeholders to enhance pipeline performance, introducing automation and advanced analytics where appropriate.
- Investigate and resolve complex data-related issues, performing root cause analysis and providing production support.
- Work cross-functionally with compliance, trading, risk, and other technology teams to continuously improve data flows and surveillance effectiveness.
- Document data mapping, lineage, and ETL processes for internal technical reference.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in data engineering or ETL development, preferably within financial services or capital markets.
- Strong understanding of financial instruments, market data concepts, and capital markets trading practices.
- Hands‑on experience designing, implementing, and optimizing complex ETL processes for large‑scale data sets.
- Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages such as Python or C#.
- Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, and big‑data technologies (Spark, Hadoop) is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with trade surveillance systems and platforms (TradingHub, Actimize, SMARTS) is a significant advantage.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex production issues.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Understanding of financial regulations such as market abuse and regulatory reporting requirements.
