Job summary

Optiver, a leading trading firm, invites you to join its Chicago office as a Software Engineer Intern for January–April 2027. You’ll work alongside mentors to build real-world applications powering a global platform and see your code reach production in real time.

You’ll tackle performance, reliability, and scalability challenges, collaborate with engineers, traders, and business teams, and gain exposure to AI-enabled tools and cutting-edge technology in a fast-paced, data-rich environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• Strong coding skills in C++, Python, or Java.
• On track to graduate between Dec 2027 and Jun 2028 with junior standing or higher.
• Passion for writing clean code and building scalable software.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to real-world trading software that ships to production.
• Collaborate with engineers, traders, and business teams to develop and test code.
• Focus on performance, reliability, and scalability of systems.
• Push code to production during the internship and learn from mentors.
