Job summary

Mission Staffing is seeking a Product Control/Trading Assistant within our investment group to serve as a critical operational link across portfolio management, trading, research, treasury, middle office, accounting and compliance.

The role supports the full credit investment lifecycle, including deal monitoring, committee documentation, cash flow modeling and portfolio level reporting, with a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment and exposure to private credit markets.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience within an investment group, middle office, or investment operations role.
  • Direct experience supporting portfolio managers or traders in a credit context.
  • Strong understanding of credit instruments and fundamentals.
  • Experience building cash flow models and projection tools in Excel.
  • Ability to synthesize and communicate portfolio information across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Attend and document IC meetings and other reviews with accuracy.
  • Maintain detailed records of borrower, issuer, and portfolio developments.
  • Create and manage IC ledgers and update investment targets.
  • Build cash flow projection models across credit facilities.
  • Develop portfolio level reporting and sensitivity analyses.
  • Coordinate with investment group, treasury, middle office, accounting and compliance.

Job description

The Product Control/Trading Assistant sits within the investment group and serves as a critical operational link across portfolio management, trading, research, treasury, middle office, accounting, and compliance. This role supports the full credit investment lifecycle, spanning deal monitoring, committee documentation, cash flow modeling, and portfolio level reporting. It is well suited for someone who thrives in a fast paced and detail oriented environment and is looking to build deep exposure to private credit markets.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Attend and document Investment Committee (IC) meetings, quarterly deal team reviews, and credit workflow meetings, capturing key discussion points, credit decisions, and action items with accuracy and discretion.
  • Maintain detailed records of ongoing borrower, issuer, and portfolio developments, ensuring credit information is current, organized, and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
  • Create and manage IC ledgers; record IC updates, investment targets, and position changes in the company portal for both new credit investments and updates to existing holdings.
  • Build, maintain, and enhance cash flow projection models across credit facilities; develop portfolio level reporting that enables PMs to sensitize returns, stress test positions, and monitor performance against investment targets.
  • Track current and projected exposure across all overflow funds to support portfolio management including capital calls, distributions, and liquidity management.
  • Partner with the investment group, treasury, middle office, accounting, and compliance to ensure accurate and timely flow of credit portfolio information across the organization.
  • Provide ad hoc support to stakeholders as needed.
Experience & Required Skills
  • 5+ years of experience within an investment group, middle office, or investment operations role at an asset manager, bank, CLO manager, or similar credit focused platform.
  • Direct experience supporting portfolio managers or traders in a credit context; familiarity with the full trade lifecycle from origination through portfolio monitoring. Strong understanding of credit instruments including bonds, term loans, revolving credit facilities, delayed draw facilities, mezzanine, pref, and structured credit products.
  • Solid grasp of credit fundamentals such as spread analysis, yield to maturity, OID, PIK mechanics, leverage and coverage metrics, and covenant structures.
  • Experience building and maintaining cash flow models and projection tools in Excel; ability to sensitize returns across key credit assumptions.
  • Proven ability to synthesize and communicate portfolio information clearly across teams with varying levels of technical depth.
Technical Skills & Systems
  • Advanced Excel required; financial modeling, dynamic projection tools, pivot tables, and portfolio roll-up reporting.
  • Market data & research - Bloomberg terminal proficiency preferred; familiarity with credit markets
  • Document & data management - comfort managing structured data across multiple systems simultaneously.
  • Reporting tools - exposure to Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence tools is a plus.
  • Microsoft Office Suite - PowerPoint and Word proficiency for IC materials, investment memos, and stakeholder reporting.
