Wintermute in New York is seeking a Trading Analyst with strong Python skills to join the Americas desk. You will work on front-line trading with traders and collaborate with developers to expand and improve trading activities across markets and strategies.

The role offers exposure to HFT, market making, and crypto trading, with opportunities to learn from seasoned traders and integrate trading infrastructure. This is a highly cross-functional position in a fast-moving crypto trading firm.

Wintermute is a global company with offices in London and Singapore. It opened its US office in early 2025 and it is set to grow significantly over the next several years. It’s a unique opportunity to play a role in the early rapid expansion of Wintermute Americas.

We are looking for a Trading Analyst in our New York office with strong Python coding skills and demonstrable experience working collaboratively within a development team. This should be accompanied by a genuine curiosity about HFT, market making, and crypto trading. You will be working on the front line with the traders to expand and improve trading activities across multiple markets and strategies. This is a highly cross-functional role offering direct exposure to all areas of the business. You will have the opportunity to learn directly from traders and be at the centre of the action, as well as collaborate with developers to integrate and upgrade infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Roll out trading for new instruments.
• Design, build and deploy automated infrastructure and tools to streamline trading processes across the desk.
• Support in troubleshooting and debugging live trading systems, detecting and addressing any system errors.
• Design and maintain data visualisations that deliver insights and actionable market information for traders.
• Manage service deployments to ensure the trading environment operates reliably and within defined performance thresholds.
• Conduct trade reconciliation, ensuring the accuracy of trade economics and settlement agreements.

Hard Skills Requirements

• Strong Python Skills: strong experience coding in Python within a collaborative development environment (work, team projects, or open-source) — we will test!
• Though we are seeking talented graduates, we are still open to experienced individuals coming from analytical roles or software development.
• Good quantitative and analytical skills.
• Trading knowledge isn’t strictly required for this role, but a strong willingness and curiosity to learn algorithmic, high-frequency, quantitative, and market‑making trading is crucial. Candidates should possess trading intuition (e.g., understanding risk, market dynamics, and what fundamentally separates a good trade from a bad trade).
• An understanding of DeFi and Blockchain would be a valuable bonus in this role.
