Pay Range $79,700.00-$109,600.00 Annual This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.

The Trade Compliance Specialist serves as a subject matter expert in global trade regulations, compliance requirements, and international logistics operations. This role is responsible for analyzing, monitoring, and ensuring JM’s adherence to all applicable import and export laws. The Specialist will evaluate regulatory changes, assess compliance risks, and support the development of policies, procedures, and strategies that safeguard JM’s international supply chain. Success in this role requires strong analytical capability, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to clearly communicate complex regulatory and tariff changes to all levels of JM leadership. The Specialist must be able to translate evolving trade requirements into meaningful business impacts. This position partners closely with Legal, Supply Chain, Procurement, External Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders, to maintain uninterrupted product flow while optimizing service levels and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze and interpret U.S., Canadian, and Mexican import/export regulations; maintain CTPAT eligibility; perform detailed HTS classifications with supporting justification; monitor customs clearance processes; conduct denied party screening; and manage other compliance programs as needed. Track regulatory changes in compliance enforcement and tariff structures, assessing potential impacts on JM’s international operations. Manage compliance programs with U.S. Customs, the Department of Commerce, CTPAT, and Canada CARM. Support global trade program analysis and qualification efforts (USMCA/CUSMA/T-MEC, KORUS, CAFTA, GSP, CBERA, Israeli FTA, etc.). Conduct detailed tariff classification analysis with strong understanding of the General Rules of Interpretation (GRI), valuation principles, and country-of-origin determinations. Evaluate import and export requirements for JM raw and finished goods, including Section 232, 301, 338 tariffs, anti-dumping duties, and countervailing duties. Maintain accurate HTS classifications and ensure proper documentation for all international shipments. Assess supplier and customer compliance with JM’s international procedures to mitigate risk. Oversee international transportation cost controls for ocean and air freight, ensuring proper use of Incoterms. Serve as an SME for JM’s Import and Export Compliance Program, knowledge of 19 CFR, EAR, BIS, ECCN classification, denied party screening, and foreign end-user security regulations. Analyze risk indicators such as restricted party involvement, OFAC/DOC/DOT restrictions, ownership structures, and other red flags. Act as the primary analytical resource for JM Business Units on international trade issues and projects and provide analytical guidance to international transportation associates. Support annual budgeting and forecasting for international logistics costs and prepare analytical reports and present findings to leadership. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

This role is primarily focused on U.S. imports; candidates with strong export compliance experience will also be considered. Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of working experience in import/export operations, compliance, or trade analysis; direct operational Customs Brokerage experience preferred. Strong analytical experience in scoping, bidding, negotiating, and contracting international logistics services. Direct knowledge and experience with Post Entry Audit requirements, HTS classifications, Binding Rulings, ACE Portal, AES Filings and landed cost/tariff impact analysis. Familiarity with Asia/Pacific, South American, and European trade regulations. Experience in coordinating with 3rd‑party logistics providers. Experience with Letters of Credit and documentary payment processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; SAP experience preferred. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and ability to communicate complex regulatory concepts clearly across all levels of the organization. Minimal travel required (0–10 days/year). Office-based work environment.
