Job Summary

Drives tractor‑trailer to transport products to and from our plant to various customer locations. Driver also locates and relocates trailers within the facility grounds. Completes various functions of distribution activities to meet supply chain requirements of the company and its customers.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Operations
  • Responsible for timely trailer moves of product and/or materials, especially those assigned as critical.
  • Must be aware always of safety of personnel/self and quality of product being transported.
  • Immediately report any problems with the quality of product to Distribution Supervisor.
  • Performs daily inspection checklist of tractor and all trailers at start of each shift. Conducts daily tractor and trailer inspections to include, but not limited to, tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water, etc.
  • Assures all loads are secure prior to any movement within the facility grounds.
  • Performs functions of a Distribution Operator as needed.
  • Pulls or pick orders and examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications, checking for correctness and accuracy of count. Complies with customer requirements by ensuring error‑free shipments.
  • Operates forklift to load and unload trucks, move, convey, transport, or locate products within the facility.
  • Uses computer to generate various paperwork required in the movement of finished goods and raw materials to supply both manufacturing operations and customers.
  • Performs various computer‑related functions utilizing company software.
  • Arranges all finished product and incoming materials in the warehouse in an orderly manner, according to warehouse location plan to allow for FIFO selection.
  • Examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and reports damages and shortages to their supervisor.
  • Conducts inventory cycle counts as directed. Assists in taking periodic physical inventory. Maintains 99% or above inventory accuracy levels.
  • Can perform all the required duties for the position they can fill in for.
  • Physically ships all small package shipments with all necessary special labeling requirements.
  • Completes small package paperwork, as required, for UPS, Federal Express, etc. performing computer data entry for small packages, where applicable.
  • Cleans, sweeps, and maintains the warehouse and loading dock area.
  • Assist in other departments as needed.
  • Willingness to be cross‑trained for other duties when necessary.
  • Reports immediately any incident/accidents to any available supervisor including damage to finished product.
  • Follow company safety procedures for assigned duties.
  • Skilled certifications in forklift, battery exchange, stretch wrap and other equipment as required.
  • Alternates shifts or hours when workload/business is required.
  • Maintains and exceeds DOT compliance on both a Federal and State level by completing physicals, random drug screening, and other requirements in order to maintain current CDL.
  • Ensures Inline Plastics Corp. has an updated copy of CDL and DOT identification.
  • Must maintain regular and consistent attendance.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Safety
  • Comply with the EHS Policy and applicable regulatory and company EHS rules and requirements.
  • Prompt reporting of any unsafe conditions, practices, or environmental concerns to supervision. Resolving potential hazards swiftly, thereby ensuring a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Attend scheduled EHS trainings.
  • Actively assist the organization in achieving or surpassing EHS goals. Identify areas for improvement in EHS practices and recommend enhancements to contribute to our commitment to a safe work environment.
  • Demonstrates safe work habits by adhering to general safety procedures, including correct techniques for lifting and bending, maintaining proper ergonomics, using equipment correctly, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Ensures strict adherence to all safety procedures, including the enforcement of Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO) procedures.
Product Safety and Quality
  • Follows FDA GMP’s regarding food contact packaging as it pertains to the employee.
  • Practices good housekeeping including clutter‑free work area and general cleaning.
  • Follows product safety standards, follows IPC product defense standards, and complies with all SQF requirements.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, or general education degree (GED), or five (5) years driving experience.
  • Must possess a current class A, CDL driver’s license, with a clean driving record and a current medical card.
  • Must have a forklift license and be able to operate both manual and automatic forklifts safely, as well as stretch wrap machines, and other distribution equipment.
  • Must be able to do cycle counts and understand inventory control.
  • Must be able to communicate fluent English, on a one‑on‑one basis or in group situations, understand instructions, and follow SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, E‑mail, small package shipping systems, and ability to comprehend company systems.
  • Must pay attention to detail, be able to work independently and responsibly, and work well with others.
