Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a Tractor Technician Trainee in Columbus, OH.

The role offers full-time hours with opportunities to learn shop skills, safety procedures, and maintenance tasks related to air brake systems and FHWA inspections. You will shadow experienced technicians, perform repairs to standard specifications, and grow toward independent work across shifts, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age and willingness to work outdoors, across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds and read documents in English

Responsibilities

• Shadow a senior team member to learn repairs to company and manufacturer specifications and train to meet SRT and warranty guidelines
• Follow all shop safety procedures
• Maintain professional communication with JB Hunt personnel and customers
• Train in routine preventative maintenance and replacement of parts/components related to air brake systems and FHWA inspections

Job Summary: Under close supervision, this position is responsible for gaining foundational knowledge of tools, equipment, shop safety, and J.B. Hunt Shop rules, policies, and procedures. The incumbent will learn to become efficient in, but not limited to, Air Break Systems and FHWA Inspections and the general repairs associated with them. This position has the possibility to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends in addition to overtime; it requires full-time attendance.

Key Responsibilities

• Shadow a more seniored team member to learn to perform repairs to company and manufacturer's specifications complete work orders, and train to be efficient in company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines
• Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures
• Maintain professional communication with JB Hunt personnel and customers at all times
• Train to become efficient in routine preventative maintenance, replacement of parts/components, basic repair as it pertains to air brake systems and FHWA Inspections

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 18 years of age; willingness to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed

Compensation

Expected compensation for this role $17.30/hourly

Compensation: Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
