J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Tractor Technician Trainee.

Under close supervision you will gain foundational knowledge of tools, equipment, shop safety, and company policies while learning to perform repairs to air brake systems and FHWA inspections. This is a full-time role with potential for overtime and varying shifts. You will shadow senior technicians, follow safety procedures, communicate professionally with staff and customers, and train in routine

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Willingness to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends.
• Ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively.
• Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds).

• Ability to read documents and/or information in English.
• Ability to wear protective gear/PPE.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Shadow a more seniored team member to learn to perform repairs to company and manufacturer's specifications complete work orders, and train to be efficient in company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines
• Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures
• Maintain professional communication with JB Hunt personnel and customers at all times
• Train to become efficient in routine preventative maintenance, replacement of parts/components, basic repair as it pertains to air brake systems and FHWA Inspections

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: 18 years of age; willingness to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed
• Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively
• Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
• Ability to multitask
• Ability to read documents and/or information in English
• Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Compensation

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
