Job summary

Marten Transport is seeking a maintenance technician to perform quality in-house repairs on the Reefer fleet in a timely manner, while complying with company policy. The role emphasizes diagnosing, repairing, and rebuilding components, and completing maintenance inspections to keep trucks on the road.

Responsibilities include handling repair orders, maintaining safety compliance, and participating in training.

Qualifications

• High school education with one year post-high school training or two+ years' tractor maintenance experience.
• Strong mechanical skills and aptitude.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying climates.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair equipment to meet fleet cost per mile goals.
• Rebuild components on equipment as needed.
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and address issues found.
• Ensure compliance with company, EPA and safety policies.
• Complete repair orders promptly and charge labor and parts correctly.
• Return unused parts to the parts room.
• Attend training classes and apply learned skills.
• Keep the work area clean and organized.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
• Other duties as required.

PURPOSE:

To furnish quality major and minor in-house repairs to the Reefer fleet in a timely and efficient manner, while complying with Marten Transport, Ltd. policy and procedure.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintain proficiency in the diagnosis and repair of all equipment which includes high quality and low cost completed in a timely manner to meet fleet cost per mile goals.
2. Maintain proficiency in rebuilding components on equipment.
3. Effectively and efficiently performs preventative maintenance inspections. Ensure the timely and effective repair of any problems identified during preventive maintenance inspections.
4. Ensure all company, EPA and Safety policies are complied with to meet local, state, and federal standards.
5. Complete all repair orders in a timely manner, ensuring all labor and parts are charged to the appropriate unit.
6. Return all unused parts to the parts room.
7. Attends all company training classes, then retains and demonstrate what was instructed.
8. Responsible for the cleanliness of the work area.
9. Performs additional duties and special projects as needed or directed.
10. Other duties as assigned.

ABILITIES/SKILLS REQUIRED:

Must possess mechanical skills and aptitude for the position. Must be able to exhibit skills and knowledge

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and be able to stand for long hours. Must be able to work various shifts and days. Must be able to work in all types of climates including extreme hot and cold.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:

High School Education with one year post high school training preferred or two plus years' experience in tractor maintenance.
