Job summary

A & A Sales and Service is hiring a Tractor & Mower Technician / Mechanic to join our service team in Statesville, NC. Compensation will reflect experience, certifications, and productivity. Ideal candidates diagnose and repair tractors, lawn equipment, and diesel engines, with pride in accuracy and quality.

We offer ongoing training, a strong team environment, and schedule reliability Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM—no weekends and major holidays off. Prior OEM/brand experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Experience with tractors, mowers, and outdoor power equipment preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills essential.
• Ability to diagnose problems rather than only replace parts.
• Valid driver's license and own basic tools required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and engine issues using diagnostic tools.
• Perform repairs on tractors, mowers, and outdoor equipment.
• Conduct routine maintenance: oil changes, filters, belts, and tune-ups.
• Document findings and repairs clearly; communicate with advisors.
• Work as part of a team to keep jobs moving through the shop.

Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated and dependable Tractor & Mower Technician / Mechanic to join our growing service team.

Compensation will be based on your experience, capabilities, certifications, and productivity.

The ideal candidate has experience working on tractors, lawn and garden equipment, compact equipment, diesel engines, small engines, or similar equipment. You should take pride in your work, be comfortable diagnosing mechanical and electrical problems, and be capable of handling repairs from diagnosis through completion.

We are looking for someone who is motivated, productive, mechanically skilled, and willing to work through difficult problems to find the right solution.

Experience with Massey Ferguson/AGCO, Bobcat, Kawasaki, zero-turn mowers, compact tractors, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical diagnostics is especially valuable, but we are willing to consider technicians from related mechanical backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fuel, and engine-related equipment concerns using diagnostic equipment, service information, and manufacturer resources
• Perform repairs accurately and efficiently on tractors, mowers, and other outdoor power or compact equipment
• Perform routine and scheduled maintenance including oil and filter changes, fluid services, belts, blades, batteries, tune-ups, and manufacturer-recommended services
• Diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel engines
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, steering systems, PTO systems, transmissions, drivetrains, and related components
• Diagnose electrical, charging, starting, ignition, fuel injection, and electronic control system concerns
• Perform thorough equipment inspections and identify needed or recommended repairs
• Clearly document diagnostic findings, recommended repairs, and completed work
• Communicate technical information and repair recommendations to service advisors
• Use manufacturer service information, wiring diagrams, parts diagrams, and diagnostic procedures
• Follow established shop procedures and maintain accurate repair documentation
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Work as part of a team to keep jobs moving through the shop efficiently
• Maintain a high standard of workmanship and customer satisfaction

Qualifications

• Tractor, mower, outdoor power equipment, diesel, small-engine, automotive, powersports, or equipment repair experience preferred
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Ability to diagnose problems rather than simply replace parts
• Experience with electrical and/or hydraulic diagnostics is a plus
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, service manuals, and technical information
• Valid driver's license
• Must have your own basic technician tools
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality repairs
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work well with a team
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• AGCO/Massey Ferguson, Bobcat, Kawasaki, or other manufacturer certifications are a plus but not required

What We're Looking For

We are looking for more than someone who can simply replace parts. We want a technician who is interested in diagnosing problems, developing their skills, earning certifications, and taking ownership of their work.

For experienced technicians, we are especially interested in individuals with strong diagnostic abilities who can confidently handle challenging electrical, hydraulic, diesel, engine, and driveline repairs.

You do not have to come from a tractor dealership to be considered. Technicians with strong backgrounds in automotive repair, diesel repair, heavy equipment, powersports, small engines, or outdoor power equipment may have skills that transfer well into this position.
