Job summary

Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. (VHB) seeks a Traction Power Project Engineer for our New York City office to support complex transit and rail traction power projects across the Northeast.

You will contribute to design work, studies, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams to deliver impactful infrastructure. The role requires 5–8 years in traction power, a BS in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred), and NY EIT/PE credentials are a plus.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of traction power experience.
• BS in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Experience with NY electrified railway substation and power distribution designs.
• EIT certification or NY PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design drawings, documents, specs, cost estimates, and studies for traction power systems.
• Prepare final design documents for traction power substations, distribution, and related facilities.
• Work on plans, reports, and analyses to meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality.
• Review contractor drawings to ensure system requirements are met.
