Job summary

The University of Iowa Athletics Department seeks an Assistant Athletic Trainer to support Track and Field and work with the Director of Athletic Training Services and medical staff. The role involves injury care, rehabilitation planning, and protecting student‑athlete health on campus and while traveling.

Requirements include a bachelor's or master's in athletic training, BOC certification, Iowa licensure, CPR-P/ALS, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• BOC certification in athletic training is required.
• Licensure as an Iowa Athletic Trainer prior to commencement.
• Current CPR-P or ALS certification.
• Strong communication and teamwork with a multidisciplinary medical staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide team healthcare services, develop return to play plans, and assist with emergencies.
• Document treatment and rehab per policies; provide status reports to coaches.
• Manage health insurance information and monitoring of healthcare expenses.
• Assist with insurance/billing troubleshooting and compliance.
• Create a welcoming environment and build trust with student‑athletes and staff.
