Job summary

Mountain Wireless seeks a tower technician to assist in erection, construction, and maintenance of wireless towers with emphasis on safety and quality. No experience required; training provided. You will commute to Aurora, CO, and work outdoors in all weather.

Responsibilities include rigging, installing top-of-tower equipment, coax/fiber work, grounding and documentation. The role requires physical endurance, teamwork, and adherence to safety guidelines; a valid driver's license is a plus and

Qualifications

  • Safety in rigging coursework completed.
  • Ability to operate aerial lifts or platforms is a plus.
  • First aid and rescue training completed; climber card required.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, piping diagrams, specs.
  • Team-oriented with the crew and company.
  • Must pass background and drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Work on tower top ensuring safe, quality installation.
  • Install up-top equipment: masts, antennas, cabling, labeling.
  • Install coax, fiber, lines; assist in testing and weatherproofing.
  • Grounding, terminations, and hardware fastening.
  • Support site construction, safety forms, and daily upkeep of gear.
  • Pursue tower-related training and certifications.
  • Assist in tower assembly and site transmission work.
  • Ensure safety and quality control across tasks.
  • Maintain tool inventory and on-site equipment.

This role is responsible to assist in the erection, construction, and/or maintenance of wireless towers. Ensure that work is performed in accordance with all safety and quality guidelines and expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform work on tower top, looking after all aspects of work while at the tower top, ensuring that a safe, quality installation has been performed, including rigging, hoisting, landing, fastening, load hopping, etc.
  • Installation of up-top equipment including masts, clamping, bracing, supports, antennas, RRUs, cabling, bolting, assist in shooting proper azimuth within tolerances, labeling, picture-taking, documentation. Assist in gathering all closeout documents are an absolute must.
  • At the instruction of Tower Lead, perform coax, fiber, lines, and hybrid cable installation, connector installation, sweep and testing assisting, weather proofing, color-coding, labeling, etc. connect coax feedlines and jumpers per piping diagrams, and support and fasten adequately for a quality, lasting installation.
  • Do grounding, terminations, fastening, proper bolting and antioxidant use, support of leads, cadwelding as required, etc.
  • Assist on overall job on groundwork including all tasks required to build and install a site per customer specs, maintain safe work environment, daily use and completion of JSA forms, assisting with overall crew work, maintenance of vehicles and equipment, etc.
  • Must continue to work towards training and certifications for tower related work.
  • A plus to know how to read and understand drawings, piping diagrams, job specifications, mounting specs, testing procedures, etc.
  • Assist in the installation of all tower related aspects of wireless cell site
  • Ensure highest level of safety and quality control requirements are upheld
  • Assist in the assembly of monopole, self-support guyed towers, and rooftops
  • Assist in the transmission line and installation
  • Responsible for tool inventory and upkeep daily on job site
  • Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to climb and perform work at various heights and locations
  • Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs.; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes
  • Must be able to pull his/her own body weight plus equipment weight up a vertical tower repeatedly for long periods of time
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
  • May be required to work long and unpredictable hours
  • Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather
  • Valid driver’s license is a plus
Minimum Qualifications

No experience required. We will train the right person!

We ask that you are located in the Denver Metro or surrounding area, since you will be commuting to our location in Aurora, CO.

Technical Skills:
  • Successful completion of safety in rigging coursework required
  • Ability to operate aerial lifts, man lifts and aerial platform equipment a plus
  • Successful completion of industrial first aid and rescue training and possess a competent climber card
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, piping diagrams, job specifications, mounting specs, testing procedures, etc.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment on the crew and be a valued member of the team and the company.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug test.
Soft Skills:
  • Communicate in person, by phone and radio with supervisor, foreman and co-workers
  • Must work in a team environment participating in tailboards throughout the day
  • Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions
  • Must be able to work with a team, and independently as required
  • Have tool knowledge
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position.

Pay:

$22-25 DOE

Required Education and Experience

High School diploma or general education degree (GED); related trade school education preferred
