Job summary

Pick Your Part in Los Angeles is seeking a full-time driver to operate a company vehicle, loading and delivering vehicles from auctions or private parties. You will verify loads, collect paperwork, pay for cars with a company check, obtain signatures, and deliver to the plant while maintaining safety and DOT compliance.

Responsibilities include securing loads, following DOT regulations, maintaining records, and adhering to company policies.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1+ years of related experience preferred.
  • At least six months of warehouse operations experience preferred.
  • At least one year of commercial driving experience or a certificate from an accredited commercial driving school preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • Must qualify for corporate insurance programs, including vehicle insurance.
  • Must meet DOT testing and physical requirements and be knowledgeable of DOT regulations.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and meet DOT/FMCSA regulations.

Description

Operate a company vehicle in a safe manner to pick up vehicles from auto auctions or private parties. Load vehicles, verify loaded vehicles, collect paperwork, pay for the cars with a company check, obtain signatures from pick-up locations confirming accuracy, and deliver vehicles to the plant and any items pertaining to the load.

  • Drive a company vehicle in a safe, courteous, and responsible manner, avoiding traffic violations and accidents.
  • Follow DOT procedures.
  • Pick up vehicles at auction or private party and load onto the company truck.
  • Secure vehicles and verify the condition of the truck and the load, and gather paperwork associated with the vehicle.
  • Leave the plant with orders on the vehicle pick up location, drive to the pick up destination, and verify vehicles.
  • Obtain a signature at the pickup location, confirm the accuracy of the vehicles shown on the order and received, and sign off verifying the integrity of the load at the location.
  • Make proper notations on the vehicles.
  • Work carefully in such a manner as to prevent injury to yourself or damage to vehicles.
  • Comply with established company policies and procedures.
  • Successful completion of annual training as assigned.
  • Operate in compliance with applicable rules and regulations set forth by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.
  • Walk the yard and place debris in the cars being removed from the yard.

  • Not responsible for supervising employees.

  • Frequent use of Outlook, Word, Excel, graphics, etc.
  • Basic messages communicated orally. May write brief messages and keep simple records.
  • Problems encountered are routine, somewhat repetitive, and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures.
  • Decisions generally affect one's own job or assigned functional area.
  • Uses guidance/guidelines provided by supervisor/manager.
  • Assignments/priorities provided by supervisor/manager.

Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to drive a vehicle most of the time.
  • Must be able to sit and drive for extended periods of time (up to 12 hours at a time); use hands to operate machinery.
  • May need to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent exposure to contaminants such as fuel or exhaust. May occasionally wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
  • May need to work in cramped spaces, which may require awkward positions.
  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures, extreme lighting, and high noise levels.
  • Daily travel will be required by drivers making deliveries, and extensive overnight travel may be required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
