Bryan Health is seeking aBenefits Leader to plan, implement and manage all health benefits and retirement programs. You will lead the benefits team, supervise staff, ensure HIPAA compliance, and coordinate open enrollment with vendors and partners.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years in benefits management with 3+ years in supervision; CBP is preferred. Strong communication, budgeting, and strategic planning are essential for success in this leadership position.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee administration of employee benefit and retirement programs.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership of the benefits team, including hiring, training, supervising, coaching and staff development.
  • Develop, implement, update and audit processes for benefits and retirement plan administration.
  • Lead annual open enrollment processes and communications.
  • Manage benefits administration in the HRIS and ensure accurate plan configurations and self-service enrollment.
  • Maintain plan documents and SPDs; ensure compliance with laws and annual plan amendments.
  • Develop and deliver employee communications to drive awareness of Total Rewards.
  • Build relationships with benefit vendors and perform vendor audits as needed.
  • Maintain confidential benefits records in accordance with HIPAA.
  • Administer pension benefits and required distributions.
  • Oversee ACA compliance and file required tax forms.
  • Manage 401(k) employer contribution, matching, re-enrollment, and communications.
  • Participate in budget processes and monitor costs and variances.
  • Use data and research to identify trends and propose new plans/programs.
  • Assist with HR policies and professional development activities.

Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY

Responsible for the planning, implementation, communication, operations, monitoring, auditing, and ongoing management of all Bryan Health benefits and retirement programs. Ensures effective and efficient daily operations, excellent service delivery to employee customers, and that all operations are compliant with applicable Federal/state laws and regulations. Plays a key role in positioning Bryan Health as an employer of choice in our region.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  2. * Oversees and leads administration of employee benefit and retirement programs
  3. * Day-to-day leadership of the benefits team (employees and contractors). Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, coaching, and development of staff.
  4. * Develops, implements, updates, and audits departmental processes and procedures related to the administration of benefits and retirement plans.
  5. * Leads annual open enrollment processes and communications.
  6. * Oversees benefits administration within the HRIS system and the configuration of all benefit plans, options and self-service enrollment processes within the HRIS system. Maintains the employee portal through SharePoint to ensure all information is accurate and up-to-date.
  7. * Maintains all plan documents and summary plan descriptions. Ensures compliance with all applicable legislation and maintains all benefit compliance responsibilities. Responsible for annual plan amendments.
  8. Develops, implements and delivers effective employee communication plans to drive awareness and understanding of benefits and retirement programs. Identifies creative means to communicate the value of benefits provided as part of the employee’s overall Total Rewards package.
  9. *Develops relationships with benefit vendors to ensure timely communications, regular updates, and coordinated efforts in the administration of benefit plans. Ensures vendors meet service expectations and conducts regular vendor audits.
  10. * Maintains accurate employee benefit and retirement records, ensuring that highly confidential benefits records are maintained in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations.
  11. Administers pension plan benefits and manages required distributions.
  12. * Oversees ACA compliance. Prepares and files required tax forms.
  13. * Responsible for annual 401k employer contribution and match true-up process including preparing calculations, working with vendor to audit and verify calculations and communication of benefit to employees. Implements annual re-enrollment provision for impacted employees.
  14. * Participates in the departmental budgetary procedure to ensure proper operational and capital planning; appropriate and efficient use of resources; and consistent compliance to budgetary and fiscal controls. Monitors budget compliance and justifies variances.
  15. Utilizes data and conducts research to identify trends and recommends new plans/programs to attract, engage and retain employees.
  16. Conducts or participates in benefit surveys as appropriate.
  17. Assists with the development and maintenance of appropriate human resource policiies and procedures.
  18. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  19. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance or related field required. Minimum of six (6) years experience in benefits management and day-to-day administration of employee benefit programs required. Three (3) years experience supervising others required. Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) certification preferred. Healthcare industry experience preferred.
