Job summary

Fiesta Mart in Houston, part of the Chedraui USA group, is seeking a Tortilleria Clerk to support a busy department with customer service, tortilla prep and display maintenance.

The role involves assisting customers, stocking, and helping produce tortillas and masa. Candidates should be comfortable lifting up to 60 pounds and reading basic instructions; food handling certification may be required.

Qualifications

• Read and write Spanish/English; interact with the public and co-workers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, shelf tags, and short memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Present information clearly in one-on-one or small group settings to customers and colleagues.
• Apply common sense to follow detailed but uncomplicated instructions.
• Regularly lift up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 45 pounds, and occasionally up to 60 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, the Tortilleria Clerk provides friendly, courteous and helpful service.
• Assist customers, clean, fill and rotate tortilla displays, and help make tortillas and masa for the department.
• Help with a fast-paced grocery store environment; comply with safety and cleanliness standards.

The Opportunity

Under direct supervision, the Tortilleria Clerk provides friendly, courteous and helpful service. This position will assist customers, clean, fill and rotate tortilla displays, as well as assist making a variety of different tortillas and masa for the department.

The working environment is typical for a fast-paced grocery store, and essential functions of this job include physical requirements such as lifting, standing, walking and kneeling as well as visual and auditory requirements.
