Job description

About The Company

Utopia is an ultra-luxury hospitality and lifestyle brand creating a global ecosystem of properties and experiences. We develop private villa retreats in beautiful locations around the world, each with high-end service. Utopia also offers a wider ecosystem of leisure experiences and services available both to those staying on property and to external visitors. Utopia designs and builds its properties in-house. Our projects span the full journey: from concept and architecture to construction, interiors, landscape, guest experience, and long-term operation. For architects and designers, this means contributing on properties from the ground up, with the ability to influence how each place is planned, built, and experienced. For hospitality professionals, it means collaborating with a brand where service is personal, attentive, and built around each guest’s stay. We’re a young, ambitious team with high standards and a hands-on approach. We value strong ideas, practical thinking, attention to detail, and people who are ready to take ownership of their part of each project. If you’re interested in architecture, design, hospitality, or guest experience, we invite you to explore opportunities with Utopia.

About The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and highly detail-oriented Construction Surveyor to join our international luxury development and construction team. This role is focused on traveling across our global portfolio of ongoing projects to conduct technical site surveys, monitor construction progress, and verify the accuracy of as-built conditions against approved architectural and engineering plans. The ideal candidate combines strong technical surveying expertise with excellent reporting skills and the ability to operate independently across multiple international locations and project environments.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial site surveys of newly acquired plots and development sites, documenting existing terrain, infrastructure, boundaries, elevations, and overall site conditions prior to construction commencement.
  • Perform regular monthly site visits to active construction projects worldwide to execute as-built surveys and monitor construction progress.
  • Verify and document the accuracy of executed works compared to architectural drawings, engineering plans, BIM models, and approved construction documentation.
  • Identify deviations, inconsistencies, construction tolerances, and potential technical issues between the designed project and the actual built conditions.
  • Produce detailed survey reports, progress documentation, measurements, photographic records, and technical assessments for internal technical and management teams.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, project managers, contractors, and technical consultants to ensure project execution aligns with design intent and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of project status, progress milestones, and survey data across all active developments.
  • Support quality control processes by ensuring construction accuracy, dimensional compliance, and adherence to project specifications.
  • Utilize modern surveying technologies and software, including GPS/GNSS equipment, total stations, drones, laser scanning, CAD, and BIM-related tools.
  • Travel extensively internationally to oversee and inspect multiple luxury construction projects simultaneously.
  • Assess surveying markets in each location to then contract the appropriate services to a third party to subsequently supervise and manage their work.
Requirements
  • Degree or technical certification in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • Proven experience in construction surveying, as-built verification, or site inspection within high-end residential, hospitality, or luxury developments.
  • Strong understanding of architectural and engineering drawings, construction methodologies, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with surveying equipment and software platforms.
  • Ability to interpret and compare as-built conditions against design documentation with high precision.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and reporting skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary international teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide.
  • Fluent English required; additional languages are a plus.
What We Offer
  • Global project exposure. Work on luxury hospitality projects across Europe, Africa, and Latin America.
  • A truly international team. Collaborate across cultures, disciplines, and time zones with people bringing diverse perspectives and expertise.
  • High ownership environment as we value initiative, independent thinking, and people who are ready to take responsibility for meaningful work.
  • Growth opportunities as we scale rapidly, we create new opportunities internally and support team members in expanding their scope and responsibilities.
  • Flexible formats of collaboration. Depending on the role, we offer fully remote, hybrid, and on-site opportunities designed to support effective collaboration and individual productivity.
  • Collaborate beyond design. Work alongside architecture, branding, landscape, and operational teams to create cohesive experiences.
