Job description

We are seeking an experienced Tool Design Engineer to design and develop industrial tooling, fixtures, harness boards, prototype models, and robotic end-of-arm tooling for manufacturing and experimental applications.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with 3D modeling, CAD/CAM systems, and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools, along with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and engineering principles.

In this role, you will independently develop technical solutions to complex engineering challenges while ensuring that designs meet performance, safety, accessibility, ergonomic, and cost-effectiveness requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures, harness boards, prototype models, and robotic end-of-arm tooling.
  • Utilize 3D modeling software to conceptualize, design, and integrate industrial machinery, equipment, tools, and machine attachments.
  • Develop tooling solutions for production and experimental applications.
  • Apply engineering principles to optimize designs for accessibility, ergonomics, safety, mobility, performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Create and modify 3D models, engineering drawings, and tooling designs using CAD/CAM systems.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and production teams to ensure tooling designs meet operational requirements.
  • Evaluate manufacturing feasibility and consider machining, fabrication, assembly, and material requirements.
  • Independently analyze complex engineering problems and develop effective technical solutions.
  • Support the design and implementation of tooling for robotics and automation applications.
  • Ensure designs align with applicable engineering standards, safety requirements, and manufacturing best practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience with 3D modeling software such as Creo or SolidWorks.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience with CAD/CAM systems, particularly Creo.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience with PLM systems, particularly Windchill.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in harness board design.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and engineering materials.
  • Experience developing tooling and fixtures for production or experimental applications.
  • Ability to independently develop design approaches and resolve challenging engineering problems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with CNC machining, fabrication, and assembly processes.
  • Knowledge of robotics, automation systems, and robotic end-of-arm tooling.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience managing engineering projects, schedules, and resources.
