Job summary

VAL-CO, a leader in commercial poultry production equipment, seeks a Toolroom Journeyman at our Coldwater, OH facility. You will set up and operate all tool room machinery, including CNC machines, and produce machined components to print with tight tolerances.

The role requires 4 years of machining/tool & die experience, ability to read prints, and proficiency with your own machinist tools. Welding of tool steels and CNC programming skills are required.

Qualifications

• Must have 4 years machining & tool and die building and detailing experience.
• Good understanding of tool steel properties and heat-treating characteristics.
• Sufficient in reading standard component and assembly prints; know print terminology and symbols.
• Provide own machinist tools and be proficient using them.
• Must pass company machinist math test.
• Ability to program & run tool room CNC machines.
• Must be capable of welding standard tool steels.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot tooling and fixtures as needed.

VAL-CO a leader in commercial poultry, egg, and swine production equipment, specializing in world-famous poultry watering and feeding systems, is currently looking for a Toolroom Journeyman at our Coldwater, Ohio facility.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Properly and safely set-up and operate all tool room machinery including CNC machines without supervision
• Produce and assemble quality machined/ground components from print to tolerances up to +-.0005" without supervision and in a timely manner
• Assemble dies, fixtures and jigs to assembly print
• Work independently on assigned jobs with minimal supervision
• Understand machining /grinding tendencies of different tool steels and the necessary machine settings / cutting tools to produce machined/ground parts to print
• Maintain clean orderly work area and follow all safety rules
• Perform routine maintenance on tool room machines
• Must be capable of maintaining a healthy, cooperative and cordial attitude in regards to the working relationship with fellow tool room staff
• Must be able to troubleshoot tooling and fixtures

Requirements

• Must have 4 years machining & tool and die building and detailing experience, machine building/re-building, or approved schooling
• Good understanding of tool steel properties and heat-treating characteristics
• Sufficient in reading standard component and assembly prints. Also must understand standard print terminology and symbols
• Provide own machinist tools and be proficient in using them
• Must pass company machinist math test
• Possess a quality and safety conscious attitude
• Ability to program & run tool room CNC machines
• Must be capable of welding standard too steels (hot rolled- cold rolled and tool steels)

Essential Job Functions

• Must be able to turn laterally 90 degrees to right and left
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs to waist height
• Must be able to stand for 8 hour shift
• Must be able to legibly complete all necessary paperwork
• Must be able to position parts in machine and simultaneously actuate clamps to secure part
• Must be able to properly use appropriate hand tools, writing utensils and measuring devices required to meet quality, safety and quantity standards
• Must be able to read, understand and operate CNC controls

Salary: $26.40 - $33.00 per hour
