Job summary

Leviton in North Carolina seeks a skilled Tooling/Die Maker to build, repair, and maintain dies, tooling, and automation components. You will support production by solving problems and repairing tooling safely and to quality standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in a technical field preferred.
  • Tool and Die Journeyman preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in tooling field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assures all safety guarding is in place and areas are clean and organized.
  • Interprets tooling specifications, blueprints, and sketches.
  • Plans sequence of operations for fabricating components.
  • Sets up and operates mills, lathes, grinders (including CNC) and other machining equipment.
  • Makes and repairs cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
  • Fits, assembles, and troubleshoots dies, molds, and assembly equipment.
  • Takes direction from experienced toolmakers and department manager.
  • Analyzes the assignment and proceeds professionally.
  • Completes assignments timely and to quality specifications.
  • Informs Toolmaker II and Engineering of progress.

About the role

Responsible for the building and repair of new and existing dies, tooling, and automation components. Responsibilities include providing support to the production departments by assisting in solving problems and repairing existing tooling and automation in a safe manner and within quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Assures all safety guarding is in place and all areas of the machines are clean, neat, and organized
  • Interprets tooling specifications, blueprints, and sketches
  • Plans sequence of operations for fabricating components
  • Sets up and operates mills, lathes, grinders, including CNC controlled, and other machining equipment
  • Makes and repairs cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges
  • Fits, assembles, and trouble shoots dies, molds, and assembly equipment
  • Takes direction from experienced toolmakers and department manager
  • Analyzes the assignment and proceeds in a professional, timely manner
  • Completes assignments in a timely manner and within proper quality specifications
  • Informs Toolmaker II and Engineering of project progress and completion
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings

  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook at a basic level
  • Ability to communicate in verbal and written English
Physical Requirements
  • Requires standing, walking, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, pushing, pulling, and feeling
  • Requires eye/hand/foot coordination

Education & Experience
Education
