Job summary

C&S Machine in Niles, MI is hiring a Toolmaker to design, build, repair, and improve tooling and fixtures across our manufacturing operations. You will keep production flowing by troubleshooting tooling issues and supporting engineering projects.

The role involves training apprentices, operating tool room equipment, and performing first article inspections to ensure quality standards are met on the shop floor.

C&S Machine is hiring a Toolmaker to support production by designing, building, repairing, and improving tooling and fixtures used throughout our manufacturing operations. In this role, you'll play a key part in maintaining efficient production processes, troubleshooting tooling issues, supporting Engineering projects, and ensuring quality standards are met.

Requirements

• Previous experience in machining or a similar hands‑on role preferred
• Understanding of tooling, setups, and production processes
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, travelers, and setup sheets
• Strong attention to detail and organization skills
• Ability to use basic measuring tools (micrometers, indicators, etc.)
• Good communication skills and ability to work with multiple team members
• Problem‑solving mindset and ability to stay ahead of production needs
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office or similar systems)
