Job summary

West is seeking an experienced tool technician to maintain tool spare parts inventory, TLCM schedule, and assist with tool repair and validations. You will set up presses, troubleshoot, and perform routine PMs, working from prints and specs to ensure quality and efficiency.

The role requires 1–3 years of press-related experience, the ability to read blueprints, and basic computer skills. Safety and quality policies are central to daily tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 1-3 years of press-related experience.
• Must be able to read blueprints.
• Some basic computer skills, e.g. Microsoft applications.
• Familiarity with standard operating procedures per company policy.
• Support Lean Sigma programs toward target delivery.
• Able to comply with safety and quality policies.

Responsibilities

• Support tool validation activities, adjust parameters and troubleshoot as needed.
• Prepare and maintain tooling for validation (e.g., aqua line, CO2, dies/molds).
• Perform control checks and run samples for capability analysis.
• Operate die carts and forklifts; install, set up, and remove tooling in presses.
• Document production and validation activities with gaging equipment.
• Conduct trim checks and visual inspections as required.
• Identify operational difficulties and inform Tooling Management.
• Maintain a tooling schedule and upcoming die rebuild timeline.
• Maintain tooling spare parts inventory and related records.
• Work with hands-on equipment (saws, grinders, lathe, milling, drill, arbor press).
• Follow prints, sketches, samples, or written instructions; perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining tool spare parts inventory, TLCM schedule, assisting with tool repair schedule, shipping and receiving of tools and tool validations. Perform a wide variety of press operation duties including machine setup, adjustments, troubleshooting, line clearing, PM’s on tool related problems, repair or remanufacture worn parts and damaged machine parts. Will assist in resolving process related problems when required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Support tool validation activities including mechanical adjustments to the press/die and troubleshoot when required, verify and adjust parameters like molding times, mold surface temperatures, gaps, bumps.


• Prepare and maintain tooling for validation i.e. aqua line, CO2, clean and clear dies/molds.


• Perform control checks and run samples for capability analysis, on center, visual and diameter analysis.


• Operate die carts and forklifts, install and set up tooling in presses, remove tooling from presses, clean and store tooling, and receive and ship tooling as required.


• Accurately complete necessary production and tool validation documents using applicable gaging and inspection equipment


• Perform trim check/visual inspections when required.


• Detect and report operating difficulties and/or specific problems to Tooling Management Team


• Maintain a tooling schedule i.e. TLCM schedule, update upcoming die rebuilds schedule.


• Maintain tooling spare parts inventory and c omplete necessary records and requisitions for materials/ supplies.


• Work with applicable equipment including power saws, grinders, lathe work, milling, drilling, sawing and arbor press.


• Work from prints, sketches, sample parts and verbal or written instructions


• Other duties as assigned.

Education

• High school diploma or GED.

Work Experience

• 1-3 years of press related experience.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Must be able to read blueprint


• Some basic computer skills required i.e. using Microsoft applications List any required certifications.


• Able to be aware of all relevant standard operating procedures as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description.


• Support and contribute to Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target.


• Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times.


• Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times .

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift 35 lbs. continuously and up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
